I recently bought one of these cards and it works as expected in my Toshiba PDR-M60 digital camera. I have taken several high resolution photos (60 or more) and I still haven't reached 50% of memory usage. I have deleted some photos and I had no problems about it. Also the performance is good while browsing the photos directly from my camera. This is a must have accessory for any SmartMedia-compatible camera owner. Highly recommended.

I have no gripe with this smartmedia card. But there's something I wish I had known before buying it.

I have a 1.3mPixel camera that came with an 8mb card. It held about 40 pictures with that card.

I chose this 128mb card over a 64mb card because I figured that it was a better value. With the 128Mb card, my camera now holds nearly 600 pictures. But the problem is that it takes 6-8 seconds to save between shots. It used to only take about 1 second for the same image size.

I'm pretty sure this is due to the access time of the large card size. Had I known this, I would have bought a 64mb card instead, since the ability to store 250-300 photos would have been just fine, and I'm figuring it would have saved images much faster.

this is something you might want to consider when buying a media card upgrade for your camera. Personally. I'd rather have the ability to take shots faster.

I bought two of these cards to use on a 9-week trip with my Olympus c-2000 z digital camera.

One of the cards worked beautifully. It's incredibly convenient to be able to fit over 200 images on one card!

The other card worked for a few weeks, then produced a "disk error," which meant it couldn't take any more pictures, and that the 100 or so that were on it are not readable! Very worrying.

I emailed Sandisk and they replied that they cannot help, and suggested that I get in touch with a file recovery company (which will cost me almost $100). I don't know if I'll be able to get those 100 pictures back yet.

I'm disappointed because I think Sandisk should help me more with recoving the files or at least have more resources to help me do it myself. My local camera retailer says that other manufacturers are far more helpful when these problems arise.

2 thoughts for people considering buying these cards:
1 - It's worth it to pay a little more for a card from a company that will support its products.
2 - It's better to buy 2 64 Meg disks than 1 128 to reduce the chance of having an error like this happen.

1* is overrating for this product. Really wish I would have read the reviews BEFORE I bought. I barely used my card when it broke. Technical support failed to get the card working. Said I'd get an e-mail in 7-10 days with an RMA...took 14 days. Then they make ME send the defective card back to them making sure that I obtain a tracking number...another $invested. Mailed the card on March 3rd, don't realistically expect to see the new card anytime soon. Haven't been able to get the reader working...don't have the card anyway. Didn't receive the rebate yet either...been 11 weeks. I sent a letter to SanDisk Customer Service and Mr Eli Harari ...the president of the company on March 3rd. Haven't heard from them either.
Buy a different brand of memory card, even if it costs a little more...spend it...one of the worst customer service departments ever.

I have had this 128 meg SM card from SanDisk for over a year and have had no trouble with it. I use it in an Olympus 3040 camera and two different brands of card reader on two different computers, and I have had no problems at all.

I have moved data as well as pictures and Mpeg movies taken with the camera. I only wish I could get 256 meg cards, but I fear that the format has been superceded by the newer XD cards, so we'll probably see no further development with Smart Media.

I gave it 5 stars because it has done everything I have asked it to do with no problems for well over a year. I haven't bothered to time it, as all digital cameras are slow to me after 30 years of 35mm film cameras. Still waiting for digital cameras to catch up on many fronts, although picture quality is getting very close to 35mm. Digital is also extremely convenient and cost effective.

Of course, this card will not allow panoramic photos. Only the Olympus card will. Unfortunately, the Olympus card is complexly designed to allow panorama; consequently the Olympus card is very susceptable to disaster. If you only delete old photos, and do not re-format the card often, residual data will cause the card to fail. The instruction book does not tell you this. In addition, if you do re-format the Olympus card with a low battery in your camera, it will also bomb. It is therefore best to use a generic (SanDisk has been reliable) card, and save the Olympus card for the occasional panoramic photo. Don't forget to reformat it, though

I accidently sent a SanDisk SmartMedia card (without a case) through my washing machine. Dryed it off and was amazed to see that it didn't lose any picture files. Several months later and the card is still working fine.

I've had some problems with generic 128MB SM cards before in my Olympus C-3020, but this one has worked flawlessly for months... I'm very pleased!

I have been using a 64 MB SanDisk SmartMedia card in one Olympus D-520 2 MP digital camera for about 7 months, and another 128 MB SanDisk SmartMedia card in a second Olympus D-520 for about 10 months. Both have worked just fine. Have taken probably around 2,000 photos on the 128 MB card with no problems. We read the images directly from the D-520 through USB to iPhoto on an Apple Power Mac dual G4 system, and usually erase the card contents immediately after downloading the images. Everything has worked fine and I plan to buy another 128 MB SmartMedia card shortly.

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The SanDisk SDSM-128-A10 SmartMedia 128MB, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.
