Past the return policy, so I'm hoping an RMA will fix the issue.

First, the Pros: it's a terrific SSD value; if you don't have SATA3 on your current machine, you won't notice the speed difference (even if you did have SATA3 and a SATA3 SSD, it's unlikely unless you're moving very large files often); the overall build quality seems good.

The Caveats: google around and make sure that you know what your specific build/machine needs. On my Asus UL20A, it required me to upgrade my BIOS, change the hard drive status in BIOS to IDE for the Windows 7 install, but then do a very specific registry tweak right after to switch it back to AHPI, but make sure I used the Microsoft AHPI driver and not the Intel Storage Matrix one that would've been installed if I just put back everything that the UL20A originally shipped with.

The Con: it's a big one... like lots of Sandforce controller SSD's, there's a big BSOD issue when sleeping. This is a VERY big deal if you're putting this in a laptop, and it's unclear how seriously SanDisk is taking this: [...]

Installed this in a Dell Latitude E6500 and followed with a fresh install of Windows 7. It worked fine for one week, but then the computer would not boot, nor could the drive been seen in an external enclosure. Amazon replaced it, but the same thing happened to the replacement drive after one day. Not exactly the level of reliability that I had been expecting. The old disk drive continues to work fine.

Fast and cheap! I am in the process of replacing all boot drives onf my pc/laptops/macs with SSD's I know its quite expensive but I am taking my time and buying one by one. Cant believe a 4yr old macbook booting up in less than 20 secs and opening adobe CS in about 30 seconds.

Update on Jan 5. This will be my third purchase of the same 120gb. Now its on two laptops and a desktop. I am debating if I going to put my third one in my mac mini 2011 or another laptop I have. :D

Excellent SSD. I have had 2 for 2 weeks and have had no issues. Super fast and reasonably priced.

One word of caution, it does not come with any cables or mounting supplies if you are planning on installing this in a desktop.

This device was easy to install, once I had the brackets and cables, super fast and booted in 10 seconds from POST. This lasted for four months. Today, after 4 months of very light use, just when I wanted to get some work done, I got a BSOD and the machine crashed. On reboot, the BIOS refused to recognize the SSD. Changed cables, changed PS connector - no dice. I tried changing the SATA port on the MB, no love. RMA time. I will buy a reliable SSD in the interim.

From other reviews, this appears to be the general lifespan of the SSD.

Purchased this item 2 1/2 months ago to use as my Windows 7 64 bit boot drive. It worked for a little over 2 months until this morning. The drive won't boot, can't be read in a USB enclosure on other PCs, etc. I just spent over an hour with San Disk support trying to get an RMA. Their support chat doesn't work (it tells you are 1 or 2 in line for assistance, and after 10 minutes, it tells you to "Try again later"...

My main issue: Their RMA process is backwards- Wait 48 hours for RMA approval, then they send you a shipping label. Once you send them your drive they will send you a replacement drive within 7-10 business days. I have replaced drives with other companies over the years, and the process has been:
- Send the customer a replacement drive immediately
- Customer returns defective drive using the return address label included with the replacement drive package
- If the defective drive isn't returned within 30 days, the customer is charged for the replacement drive

That makes much much more sense to me than leaving a customer out of commission for 2-3 weeks.

I only use San Disk SD & CF cards for my cameras and have never had a problem. Not sure if I was just unlucky with their SSD, and while I understand these things happen, I expect a much better experience when it comes to processing a replacement.

SanDisk is not reliable! I've lost all of my files on it!
It ran fast until today in the morning I've turned on my laptop and it does not find my SSD anymore!
I've tried it in my other computers and it does not work! Hopefully will get my RMA!

I will never buy from SanDisk again!!!
