I found this San Disk 32GB Ultra Micro SD card when I was doing research for a memory card that would work in my HD Action Cam (Kind of like a Go Pro). I knew I had to get at least a class 4 card to keep up with 1080p recording without affecting the video quality in a negative way.

I have always known San Disk to be a trustworthy brand that doesn't make claims about their products that don't hold up... However with this card I found myself slightly disappointed. I ran a few benchmarks on two different San Disk 32GB Ultra Micro SD cards and both achieved similar scores, bare with the averages I use with the speeds, I know that KBs and MBs don't round off to perfect 1000s but it's easier to generalize it that way... Using ATTO Disk Benchmark I was able to achieve a max of about 9100KB/s Write and 22000KB/s Read on both cards. With those results (over about 4 tests each card) I can assume that with optimum conditions the San Disk should be able to reach the 30MB/s (30000KB/s) Read speed as advertised. So the card is acceptable but I felt that it was at the lower end of it's claim when San Disk would usually claim something like 10MB/s speeds and achieve 12MB/s speeds. To compare I was able to get my hands on a 32GB Samsung Class 2 Micro SD card. Using the same Micro SD card adapter from San Disk I plugged in the Samsung and ran a bench on it. It got around 9500KB/s Writes but only around 14000KB/s Reads. After seeing the faster write speeds on a class 2 card compared to the San Disk Class 6 I got pretty sad. Still I have kept the San Disk card and threw it in my 1080p Action Cam at 30fps (also 720p at 60fps) and the San Disk Ultra can handle recording just fine with no lag or negative affect on video quality.

works great with my Samsung Galaxy S3. The phone detected around 59.5GB. I was able to record 1080p video directly to the SD card with no problem, so the card is fast enough to handle that task.

Maybe I am dating myself, but the first computer in my family had an 80Mb hard drive and we thought things were great with that (an old Mac with an add on external CD-ROM playing Myst). The fact that this chip holds 64Gb and is no bigger than your thumbnail is astounding. I have not had any compatibility issues, but that is one reason for buying a name brand like Sandisk. In case you haven't noticed, there is a difference between SDHC and SDXC the newer XC is an even higher capacity format that doesn't always work in HC designed slots. Also I have not filled it up yet, so I will see if there are any issues once it starts to fill up and update this review if there are. I could have almost bought three 32 Gb models for this money, but with only one slot and how small these are its just not worth the risk of losing any or the hassle of pulling them out for swapping around. This basically doubles the drive space I have in a samsung series 7 slate and made me feel comfortable buying a used slate with only the 64 Gb internal drive (the Samsung S7 slate with windows 8 is the absolute future of computing BTW, with a core i5, touch interface, and full desktop it replaces tabs, pads, netbooks, and notebooks with one device. Sorry I didn't buy new from Amason or i would place these opinions in their own review...). The faster internal drive hosts programs and the OS while this thing holds videos, music, and other files and does a great job. I have noticed transfer speeds around 6 Mb/sec in Windows 8 CP (the transfer rate flowing chart in windows 8 is genius). This is good enough for playing HD videos (720p, haven't tried 1080p), but I have seen my wireless N 5 Ghz band connection transfer from a networked hard drive to the slate's internal SSD drive faster (about 9 Mb/sec). I wouldn't expect something like this to keep up with an SSD though, however 15 years ago I would not have expected 64Gb to be this small... :)

Bought this during Amazon Gold Box sale. Arrived in CA in one day with Prime 2-day shipping (Amazing!).

Basic Info: Comes with lifetime warranty (10 years in regions that don't recognize lifetime warranties). The packaging is a little poorly designed. It's a paper clamshell over a plastic clamshell. The line indicating where to cut is well above the glue line, so the package still won't come apart after cutting there. You have to cut maybe an inch off the top before you can get the card out. The card comes with a code for a download of Sandisk's media manager software. There is no plastic carrying case. The OEM is listed as "SD." Model is the "SU32G." Formatted space is roughly 29.7 GB (Fat32, 16K), but may vary a bit depending on formatting option. I've submitted a photo of my CrystalDiskMark benchmark, with notes.

Real-Life Use: Excellent performance in my Mytouch 4g. Formatted, copied the files over from my old class 4 card via PC, mounted, and saw instant improvement. Apps opened faster, home screen lag was gone, and widgets loaded nearly instantly. Not bad for a single-core 1.5GHz (overclocked) CPU. 720p recording on the phone no longer lags, and testing 1080p playback shows no stuttering problems. SD Tools app shows 7.5 MB/s sequential write but 19.5 MB/s read, which may indicate a problem with my laptop card reader being too slow and/or old. The only problem (a small one, at that) was that ringtones were shuffled around (wrong ringtones or even entire music tracks were being played by my phone for each call/text) after switching cards. This is most likely a bug in Android OS (2.3.4), but I can't entirely rule out it being the card. However, after 5 minutes of resetting all my default and individualized ringtones, the phone is back to normal.
