I love the Echoing Green. Their other recent single release "Suffer" was a great song. This song is definitely good but I didn't get the same charge out of it as I got when I first listened to "Suffer". The first time I heard that song I immediately loved it, this song doesn't offer the same enjoyment on the first listen. It's more in your face. It also seems like an effort was made to have every word that rhymes with "Sanctuary" in the song. Emissary, Missionary, Adversary, Contrary.. it's a little over kill. But after a few listens I got into it and now I really enjoy listening to the song!

The remixes found here are very well done and are, in my opinion, MUCH better than the remixes found on the "Suffer" single. Some of the remixes on that single were ear-bleeding awful. The ones on this single fit the mood of the song much better. (Like someone put more effort into it than "let's put the songs lyrics over a hideous techno beat and add a melody that doesn't match the singing")

And may I again compliment the Antique Toys remixer. Whoever the heck that is needs to put out some more remixes or make some songs. Who are you, Antique Toys??? Please, whoever you are, release more stuff! Their remix of "Suffer" was phenomenal and on this single they remix the song "Flame" and it's very well done!

Oh yeah, and this single actually comes with a record version of the CD single. Very cool! Now I just have to find a record player so I can play it...

Admittedly, I didn't really care for the vinyl, but I wanted the cd for this, specifically "Sanctuary" which is one of my favorite songs. The Echoing Green has another solid entry with this two song set (with multiple variations). Really worth it for anyone who likes electronica with a solid message. You'll definitely get this one stuck in your head. The packaging is pretty nifty too and I'm finding I like the vinyl more as time goes by. Feels a little old school in a good way since it matches the sort of indie old school feel of the songs too. Great collection all around.

One of their best. I personally like their new direction. If you like Blind, Suffer, Sparrows and the Nightingales, then you will definitely like Sanctuary. Lyrics are some of their sharpest, and very well written.
