About the Author

Born in Pittsburgh in 1945, Robert Munsch actually studied for the priesthood for seven years before attending Boston University and getting a degree in teaching. While training for the priesthood, Robert worked at an orphanage, where he realized that he loved working with kids, so he decided to work in daycare instead. That is where he realized his knack for storytelling—he would tell the kids stories before naptime. His boss convinced him to publish his stories, which allowed Robert to quit his job and become a full-time writer. Today, Robert and his family live in Canada.

More About the Author

Robert Munsch is the author of more than 25 books for children including The Paper Bag Princes and Stephanie's Ponytail. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and studied to be a Jesuit priest before deciding to work with children instead. He taught in a variety of nursery schools and daycare centers while he earned an MA in Early Childhood Education. In 1975, Munsch and his wife, Ann, moved to Guelph, Ontario. The Munschs have three children: Julie, Andrew, and Tyya (see them all in Something Good!).

This was a birthday gift to a boy who is very special to me. My granddaughters have many, many books by Robert Munsch, and we love them all. I am sure this one meets the standard we have set for Munsch books.

This is a story that makes no sense and it's so out there that I find it frustrating. I don't really enjoy his style of writing, but this one is really too much.

It was Christmas gift for my friend's grandson. This was his statement after he had read it. I have sent him Robert Munsch books in the past which were as well received.
