I gave this digger to my 4 yr. old grandson for his birthday. He loves anything to do with construction equipment and you never call a piece of equipment any name other than the correct one because he knows each piece and what it does. As soon as he opened the present (btw:it was difficult to wrap once assembled) he got on it and did not want to leave. Gravel in the driveway was hard to scoop but put it in the dirt or sandbox and he went to town. Was afraid he would not understand how to operate it but there was no question in his mind. He immediately put the "excavator" to work and loves playing on it in the yard every day. Great, sturdy gift for a little boy who loves construction equipment. It was easy to put together and very sturdy.
My son is 3 1/2 and he has had smaller excavator toys, so he is all up on digging. It still took him a little while to get the hang of this toy and pinched himself in some of the joints when learning. The bucket is really big too and so for little guys like him it is hard to handle. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon. He sure loves it though. It is a great durable toy. The only part I'm worried about now that I have the product in real life is the seat. It looks pretty weak. At $50, this was definitely worth the price. This will keep kids busy for hours out in the sand.
This is a wonderful product, especially for the price. We didn't have any problems with the assembly. We did find that in order to get the seat to swivel, you must use some oil or it sticks. Once he got on it, our 3 year old dug really impressive holes in dirt and sand! We made the mistake of leaving it out in the rain one night and the levers got a little tight, but once I moved them to loosen them up, the boys went right on digging away. We have played on more expensive heavy duty types of diggers, but it was much easier for my little ones to use this on their own! Pleasantly surprised!
My son received this for his 3rd birthday. What a huge hit. He loves his sandbox and this is an excellent addition to his toys. I love that it is on wheels, he can move it himself. I am very pleased with it. The $300 and $400 play ground models were way out of our price range and I was skeptical of the quality for this price but I am very pleased with it! I foresee many hours of fun with our digger.
My youngest grandson absolutely loved this backhoe. He never tired to imitating the real huge backhoe his father occasionally used to clear his land. It is exceptionally well made and withstood the elements well. It was finally passed on to a younger friend. It's probably good for another couple children after him. It is clearly made to last and the action is quite realistic.
I gave this to my grandson for his 2nd birthday and he loves it! The wheels make it easy to tote from home to the neighborhood park. The directions for assembly weren't very helpful but it wasn't too hard to figure out on our own.
