I first read this book in the 8th grade in Woodward, OK. Our English teacher, Miss Edna Patterson, assigned this book to our class. This book was instrumental in my life-long interest in Oklahoma History, and History in general. Reading Mrs. Laune's story, seeing the local places still in existence, made an indelible mark on a very young mind. A must-read for every Oklahoman!
