5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, January 24, 2006
I'm a gigantic Akira Toriyama fan, and I've been trying to get every single thing he's ever done in his entire career.

This particular manga novel was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2000, and made it over here as one of the first series serialized in Viz's Shonen Jump. This was the seacond series Toriyama made after Dragon Ball ended (Cowa! was the first).

This particular work contains all of the things people expect for Toriyama....action, gags, and Toriyama's signature drawing style. However, this particular work has something that you DON'T expect from Toriyama.....social commentary!

This work has an anti-war message, as well as a message of conservation......surprisingly deep, considering that this is the creator of Dragon Ball, a series not at all known for intelligence.

Anyways, I highly reccomend this work for any Toriyama fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars better than I thought., October 21, 2005
By Geoff "chop suey!" (long beach CA) - See all my reviews
this is from the creator of dragonball, a series I am not a fan of, so when I picked this up i wasnt expecting that much out of it. Needless to say I was mildy surprised, the story is kinda cliched but the fantastic artwork pretty much makes up for that,

all in all a great little graphic novel.pick it up if you want something fun to read during math class, just dont expect anything too revolutionary

p.s I would have given it 3.5 if I could have
