Product Description

Plant Part: Wood * Extraction Method: Steam Distilled * Origin: Australia * Description: Extracted from plantation trees, Western Australian Sandalwood is a viable, environmentally friendly tree considered to have higher anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties This tree is parasitic, burrowing its roots into nearby trees to gain sustenance for the first seven years, leaving the other to die. To produce oil this tree must be over 30 years old, preferably around 40-50 years when it has reached its oil production peak. * Color: Pale yellow to golden yellow clear liquid. * Common Uses: Sandalwood is mainly used in perfumery, cosmetics, and aromatherapy. Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil is considered to have strong anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. * Consistency: Medium * Note: Base * Strength of Aroma: Medium * Blends well with: Jasmine, Ylang-ylang, Rosewood, Patchouli, Vetiver and Rose. * History: Sandalwood Australian - like all of the sandalwood family - is considered to be an exquisite oil, particularly as ethical harvesting has reduced available quantities. Some thirty species of sandalwood occur throughout Asia, Australia and the Pacific region. Six of the species are native to Australia. One species, Santalum spicatum, is presently being harvested in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. The high value of the wood and the oil has led to a steady decline of native sandalwood trees and increasing efforts to establish plantations. New Directions Aromatics continues to source their oil by ethical means including State sponsored auctions. * Cautions: Sandalwood Australian is considered non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing oil.

I just love the smell.

I'd say easily the best Sandalwood oil I've tried, and I've used several other brands.

Luckily, my first order for Australian Sandalwood oil was Nature's Kiss, because that was outstanding. I knew what a good sandalwood oil should smell like. I purchased this brand, Eden's Garden, because I was under the impression that all Sandalwood Oil had the same scent, if it was labeled pure, therapeutic, or 100%. I don't believe the quality of this item can be strictly controlled. I may be just one of the unlucky ones. I kind of felt the scent was either from a non-mature batch, a buyer's inexperience, or that, being a natural product it could just be the one peach in a basket of peaches, that had very little flavor. I will try to return it, or may even exchange it for another of the same. I think this company does wish to keep its customers. At the price, this is definitely a luxury purchase, so I believe that enough unhappy customers can really hurt their business.

Sandalwood is becoming very difficult to obtain because it has been over-forested. It is one of my favorite scents. This one has a very unpleasant aroma, not like any sandalwood I have used in the past. I had someone else who loves sandalwood smell it along with me and we both thought there must be something wrong with the oil.

I misread the label - this is Australian Sandalwood - I am not used to the smell and do not really care for it. But this is personnel preference. I prefer East Indian Sandalwood which has a denser smell. This is light, sweet, and flowery. Seller identified it correctly and it is of excellent quality. It is just that I do not like Australian Sandalwood.

India, the origin for the deep woody smelling "original" Sandalwood has all but halted export due to rapid deforestation. Edens Garden offers an East Indian Sandalwood, but I have yet to try it (I will though). Be careful of any supplier claiming to sell sandalwood from Mysore/India, as due to the diminished supply the oils they sell are often adulterated. Edens Garden oils, as a rule, are excellent. I like them better than Aura Cacia, and they are significantly more economical, since you're not paying for branding. This company deserves your business if you are into Aromatherapy, fragrance blending, soap making etc. you will not be disappointed.

My dog was diagnosed with a large, severe cancerous mast cell tumor on his foot. Due to his advanced age surgery was not an option and would likely cost him his foot if he survived. Other treatments such as chemo and radiation, besides being insanely expensive, would have made him miserably ill and would likely have hastened his demise. A friend with training in alternative therapies recommended this oil along with clove and frankincense, which she claimed would shrink the tumor. I have always been quite skeptical of these products, but we decided to give them a try. When we started treatment the tumor protruded out of his nail bed by nearly an inch, and was quite painful to him. After only 3 weeks the tumor is less than a fourth of its original size and appears dried out, and is no longer causing him any pain. I'm stunned. The dog is still happy and bumbling along at 13 years old.

I recently received from my cousin those oils from Edens Garden , and I looked at them at the beginning with a little bit of skepticism;

However , after I tried them , and especially this item , I noticed the beautiful smell and it's therapeutic properties working on my body, I totally changed my

opinion about those products from Edens Garden! I recommended this to all my friends and after they tried them , they declared themselves very satisfied!

I got a refund on this oil. I didn't like it. The company did respond fast to refund my money, but why, with so many negative reviews would they continue to sell this expensive oil? I would suggest looking elsewhere for Sandalwood. I buy alot of oils and this one has no scent of Sandalwood, imo. I also got their Frankincense and it's nice, worth the money. All oil makers are struggling with Sandalwood as it's tough to get now, especially at an affordable price. Whoever comes up with the real deal at a decent price, will make a fortune, as many people are looking for this, and many are not getting it. Real Sandalwood sells for $275.00 per oz. But, thats' the original, from India. I have friends in Australia and I'm going to see where they buy it.

Love the scent, especially mixed with Cedarwood and Frankincense. The Sandalwood is more pricey than the rest, but a little goes a long way.
