Book Description

Night Owl Reviews 5* Top Pick: A Sandcastle Christmas (The Edge of Texas, #5)
"A Sandcastle Christmas" by J.D. Faver is one very good read and the first read for me by this author. I will say it will not be the last because I do plan on checking out more from this author's series. I found that "A Sandcastle Christmas" was a novel that had a little bit of everything. An infant is abandoned in a manger scene at church, it sets off a string of events including murder, a stalker, a lot of seasonal tension and heartwarming happenings for the gang. This will keep you turning the pages until the end.
The characters were all so well developed, colorful, likable and so very intriguing. You get Chloe and Rafael, Darla and Mike, Cassie and Javier and Sky, Zach and may other secondary characters. They come together to give the reader such a very intriguing read. This author has brought all of these characters together during this special time of the year with each one bringing their own set of troubles with them. The big question is will the sheriff be able to solve these mysteries with the help of the community during this holiday season? At this time I will say you must pick up "The Sandcastle Christmas" to see how this author will bring it all out to the reader.
This novel is from 'The Edge of Texas series' and even though this novel can be a standalone read I am going to suggest that the reader can get a better read on what has happened earlier by reading the series. Be ready for a Christmas story with some mystery throughout. You will get placed into a warm beautiful storyline of romance and suspense.
"The Sandcastle Christmas" will give you a very good amazing read that I definitely recommend to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Danger at Christmas! November 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Another winner by JD Faver. The edge of Texas series, with all of the larger than life characters, is once more on display. All of the characters of the series have come together at this special time of the year, each bringing their own set of troubles with them.
Soon personal problems are pushed aside as much as possible when the community is plunged into a tragedy. Will the group pull together to help sheriff Raffy solve a mystery, or will further tragedy strike? Read A Sandcastle Christmas to find the answer. An enjoyable read.

J.D. Faver does it again with A Sandcastle Christmas. Her writing brings a poignancy to her stories a long with mayhem and murder.
J.D. brings her characters to life giving the dimension and life of their own so they grab you by the heartstrings. It is always a pleasure for me to read her books and I fully recommend her books to anyone who loves a touching story with excitement thrown in.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Holiday Addition January 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Like visiting old friends, it's always great to return to this sunny Texas island and catch up with the unique characters Ms. Faver writes about. This time around, although Christmas should be a time of peace and goodwill toward mankind, trouble rears its ugly head. With an abandoned baby, the return of an old foe, and the death of an unlikable woman, the police and residents alike are all dealing with more than just the usual quest for the perfect gift. Filled with love, humor, and mystery, A Sandcastle Christmas is a wonderful addition to The Edge of Texas Series!

2.0 out of 5 stars long, slow read December 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story was very drawn out, I'm not really sure what it is supposed to be about, I kept waiting and thinking something was going to happen but it never did. Not sure why, but I stuck with it to the end, maybe because I kept thinking the plot would be revealed if I did. Do yourself a favor, if you have something else to read, don't spend your time with this, you will be disappointed.

I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. It's been a long time since I picked a romance to read and I am very glad I picked this one! It has just enough romance, suspense and murder to keep you going to the end. I love her descriptions, and the characters! Such a nice way to end my day! Recommended!

A Sand castle Christmas is the fifth book in The Edge of Texas series. It's kind of an epilogue of the first four books. It wraps up the series nicely.

More About the Author

J.D. Faver lives near Houston, Texas. She writes steamy contemporary romance and romantic thrillers/mystery/suspense. She loves to kill people...on virtual paper, that is. Although she writes daily, she still finds time to enjoy family and friends. She is a foodie and an adventurous cook. Determined to preserve generations of family recipes, she is publishing a series of cookbooks entitled A Texan in the Kitchen.
Gardening is another passion (and linked to the food thing) since she has an orchard of fruit trees and berry bushes/vines in her back yard. Tomatoes and other veggies round out her kitchen garden.
All other interests (painting, drawing, sewing, quilting, crocheting, weaving, stained glass and pottery) have taken a back seat since they require hands-on participation which is difficult if your fingers are always on the keyboard.
An active member of several Houston writer's organizations, she belongs to National RWA and is a member of Houston chapters.
She is owned by two cats and a small, yappy rescue dog. As a former educator and healthcare professional, she is an advocate for children, animals and elderly/disabled individuals.
She would rather be sailing or on a beach somewhere, but if not, you can probably find her with her fingers on a keyboard, pouring word images onto the virtual films playing in her head.
