5.0 out of 5 stars Speedy and reliable
I purchased this card for my 12mp Nikon D300 and have been very pleased with its performance. It has plenty of speed for when I really let the shutter loose, and that's mostly what I was looking for when I purchased it. This may not be one of Sandisk's new Extreme cards, but for all practical purposes, including weddings and light sports use, this card fits the bill at...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrific product bad merchant delivery costs
The box stores no longer carry these SanDiscs, because it doesn't benefit them. So I, again, turned to Amazon and sure enough they had the flash cards at a great price. The seller on Amazon was extremely rude in one regard. They charge a good deal for delivery. The box is only 3.4x4" and a couple of ounces. I bought five cards so they bundled it all into one little box...

The seller on Amazon was extremely rude in one regard. They charge a good deal for delivery. The box is only 3.4x4" and a couple of ounces. I bought five cards so they bundled it all into one little box and charged me five times the price for delivery. This is rude and junk corporate crap that I would think retailers would begin to change. How abusive. And it puts me into the position of "do I want to deal with not using and repackaging the item, taking to the delivery service for a return, checking my card to make sure they credited me then going back on Amazon and buying the same product from another merchant. Amazon and their sellers have to put together an internal policy to stop this garbage. The consumer has been abused enough. I believe I called or emailed the merchant and they offered to split the delivery cost in half ... another slap in the face ... how about charging one delivery cost for a total of 10 or 12 ounces. Again, the consumer is sick and tired of being abused by you merchants.

5.0 out of 5 stars They reliably do what they are supposed to do, January 10, 2011
This review is from: Sandisk 8GB Ultra CF memory card - 30MB/s 200x (SDCFH-008G, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
I've got a number of Sandisk cards going all the way back to 32 meg capacity and also including a couple of these 8 gig cards. I've never had a problem with any of them. I shoot a 24.6 meg full frame camera exclusively in RAW yielding about 36 meg per image file. I used to use 80X cards but ran into problems with filling the camera memory buffer when shooting continuous mode but the trade to these 200x cards cured that for my purposes. I do admit that it is fairly rare that I would shoot more than 10 images continuous. Just ran a quick test, shooting RAW in continuous mode, my camera shot 17 images at aprox 36 meg per before filling the buffer. After the completion of the last image, it took the camera 15 seconds to clear the buffer and be ready to shoot again. I know there are now 600X and faster cards but, personally, the far greater expense isn't worth it to me; these cards are the "sweet spot" in bang vs buck. There are applications where some will find some large advantage to paying 6-8 times as much per gig of storage as these Sandisk cards cost. Maybe if you do sports photography.

Again, in my fairly extensive experience, there is no issue with reliability with (genuine) Sandisk CF cards.

Test camera is a Sony A850 BTW.

I have pretty much always purchased SanDisk compact flash cards for my digital camera. As a professional photographer I want what is reliable and have used this SanDisk 8gb card several times since my purchase. It has reliably worked every time. I trust SanDisk to produce quality memory cards.

I'm using it primarily in a Canon 7d camera and the only negative is that when I shoot video I tend to run out of space too fast. That's fine though as the price for these cards is cheap compared to the cost of losing a job.

Follow-up:

I had to RMA the card due to it constantly giving me errors when I was getting 3/4 to almost full. I would lose photos because of this. Dealing with SanDisk support wasn't fun. They sent me an older card twice, but when I brought it up the second time they overnighted me the correct replacement card. It has worked flawlessly since. It was something that I shouldn't have had to deal with and I knocked off a star for their customer support. If they hadn't overnighted the new card I would have dropped them to 2 stars.

I understand CF cards will get through with defects. That is the purpose of RMA, but it was not an easy or enjoyable experience to go through the SanDisk support. In the end they did the right thing though and made up for their own inability to communicate effectively.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sandisk does not disappoint., September 1, 2011
This review is from: Sandisk 8GB Ultra CF memory card - 30MB/s 200x (SDCFH-008G, Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
Sandisk is not the least expensive of the memory card manufacturers, but I have never had an issue with one of their memory products.

I don't expect I'll ever be able to afford to return multiple times to any given vacation spot, and I want as much assurance as possible my photos will be safely stored the first time.

I've been using Sandisk cards from reputable dealers (there are many counterfeits out there!) since 2002, and have never had an issue. The cost difference between their products and the discount brands is not enough to risk it, IMHO.

Almost NO new cameras or other electronic items are being manufactured for use with this type of memory card! The Compact Flash is going away, folks. Check around in a few stores. They're hard to find. If you have a camera that requires these babies, you better stock up. SanDisk is as good as any name out there, and an 8 GB card at this speed at this price is great! I have eight CF cards. All SanDisk. All problem free!

When I was planning to buy the Canon 7D with HD movie capability the thought was I needed the fasted possible memory CF card to keep up. Wrong. This card rated at 30MB/s is more than adequate. Why spend far more on the Extreme CF card when you can get the Ultra. Please don't be confused as I was at first with Sandisk's confusing move to upgrade the Ultra-II to become the Ultra. Ultra-II cards are way slower. So make sure to get just the name Ultra and verify by seeing if it says 30MB/s. I also like to buy the Retail version so that you get the plastic case with the card inside. Can function as a protective case. As for this seller eTech, I purchased two of these, two separate orders and they arrived with fast shipping, well packaged and exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend this card and eTech.
