5.0 out of 5 stars Affordable 4GB CompactFlash Card, March 17, 2005

This review is from: Sandisk 4GB COMPACTFLASH CARD ( SDCFB-4096-A10 Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
This is not the fastest 4GB card currently available, but it's 4GB, and it's from a well-known and reliable manufacturer. It's a Type I card (slimmer than Type II), and it has a little three-position switch on the side.

If the device(s) were you'd be using this card support FAT32, you most likely will put the switch in position 1, and have the whole card formatted as one big partition. Alternatively, switch positions 2 and 3 allow switching between two 2GB partitions that can be formatted using FAT16 supported by older devices. Effectively the card works as two different 2GB cards with a flick of the switch in this mode.

Following information is for Nikon D70 camera owners who want to use this CompactFlash card with their camera. I purchased this card to use with my D70 camera. It seems to work fine. I formatted mine as a whole 4GB in FAT32 mode. Initially the camera did not want to format the card using the "two-button" mode, but formatted all-right using the on-screen menu. You may want to check to make sure your camera has the latest firmware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my dSLR!, February 10, 2006

This review is from: Sandisk 4GB COMPACTFLASH CARD ( SDCFB-4096-A10 Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
I bought this card to use with my Nikon D70 (strange, only D70 owners seem to be giving reviews for this card) The camera can see entire size without problems. I don't want to call this card Fast as it's a relative term. For my uses it is quick enough and I simply do not need a faster card. I have 6 mega pixel camera and here's the timing I got from this card. The writing speed of this card is about 2.5 MB/sec. What does this mean? My maximum resolution JPG images are about 2.5MB on average. So with this card I can shoot continuously 1 frame/sec till the card runs out of space. But the thing is, the fastest my camera can write is about 1.5 frames/sec, which is very close to the max speed of this Sandisk card.

So, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel I need more speed?

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect addition for my Nikon D70, August 15, 2005

Formatted card using camera menu and have had no problems with the card in camera or in my Averatec XP-Home laptop. The D70's image buffering is very good so card feels just as fast as all of my other various CF cards in my D70.

I suspect I will be ordering a couple more 4GB CF cards soon!
