You're probably looking at this review because you own more than 1 Sony electronics product that uses Memory Stick Pro Duos and you're looking for a portable and easier setup than the one you're currently using. :)

As for myself, I own a PS3, a PSP, a walkman phone, and a Sony DSC-T200 digital camera. ALL of them use a PRO DUO (2GB - 8GB) and I needed something that would let me access these multiple memory cards without having to go through the whole rigamarole of attaching a cable, turning the Sony device on, setting the device to USB mode, etc. It's just such a hassle!

I wanted something portable, since I need to access the contents of multiple cards in multiple places. :)

I saw a few other choices here on Amazon, but I ultimately chose the Sandisk Micromate Reader. It doesn't look flimsy, but it has that classic look, and it works great as intended. Read times are fast, so pulling and putting files onto the card is quick and easy.

The memory card slips about halfway into the MicroMate, so taking it out after you're done loading or copying files is a snap.

The only con that I can see is the width of the thing. If you were to put it in a USB Hub, it would most likely take the ports that are directly next to the one currently inserted, but PRO DUOs are wider than regular USB plugs, so it really can't be helped.

I like to research before I make a purchase, so you can believe it when I say that this card reader comes highly recommended. Especially if you live the Sony lifestyle!

Simply amazing for a couple of reasons:
1) it doesn't need that annoying adapter piece. the card just goes right in.
2) it's way more compact than it looks. smaller than my motorola reader
3) way more sturdy than any reader i've used before
4) the protector cap fits on both ends
5) and it's as flat as it can get which is great for those side by side usb ports

This product works great. In this time when flash memory cards are increasing in capacity, this product is a great help to conveniently access the card.

I've always wondered why they didn't come out with this sooner, since this is probably a good alternative to thumb-drives because of its wider range of potential usage. I wish I got the one compatible with the original memory stick though. That way I could have used both that AND pro duo (+ the adapter), but I'm happy with my purchase now that I can transfer photos and files to and from any computer with a USB port.

What can be said about a product like this, except that it is very cute, streamlined, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do when you plug it into your USB port with the Memory loaded in. It allows you to transfer your files from the memory card onto your computer. Perfect. Genius. Just make sure you are buying the right reader for the memory you are using. This is for the Memory Stick Pro Duo and Memory Stick Duo Cards that go into some cameras, like the Sony Webbie. You cannot use this reader to read MicroSD cards that go into mobile phones. There is a big size difference in the two. So as long as you're square on which card you have, you're fine. If you need a MicroSD reader for your phone card, try something like this: SanDisk SDDR-121-A11M MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader (Red/Black)

We got a Sony point and shoot as a gift a few years ago, and I hate it. In addition to the proprietary memory card that none of our laptops have a spot for, it also came with a proprietary cable that we had to carry around to get our photos off. Losing the cable meant our photos were trapped on the camera.

This device, made by a recognizable name and sold for a GREAT price filled the void perfectly. Much easier to carry around than the cable, and we can use it on all our computers. It's also much more forgiving than the cheap-o standard CF card reader that we bought a few years before, I have to jiggle that one around and hold it just so until it makes a connection. Great purchase.

Cheapest price I could find on the internet was at Amazon. These should come standard with everycard. USB 2.0 connectivity is huge for quick data transfers.

This is the third card reader I've tried. I have a baby, so I'm constantly uploading pictures from my camera to the computer. This little reader was perfect from the get-go. It was plug-and-play, quick to open, and super easy to use. I like that the card is snug in the reader, but still super easy to insert and remove. Removal is made easier, too, because about half of the SD card sticks out, making it easy to get your fingers on to pull it out.

Great product! I would recommend this to anyone looking for small and easy to use SD card reader.
