5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, November 3, 2007

This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
I got this for my LG cellphone. When it arrived I inserted the micro SD card into the phone and formatted the card through the phone menu. Then I transferred existing photos from the phone memory to the card. I then took the card and put it into the USB reader and plugged it into my computer (Windows XP).

After Windows finished with the recognition of new hardware routine I opened Windows Explorer and was surprised to find already on the card the 3 folders I wanted (My Pix, My Flix, and My Music. In the My Pix folder I found the photos from the phone and transferred them onto the computer. I then transferred a bunch of MP3 files from the computer into the My Music folder on the card, plugged the card back into the phone, and voila - listened to some songs.

That was it, piece of cake, the whole package worked great and at quite a nice price.

4.0 out of 5 stars WYSIWYG, November 15, 2007

What you see is what I got. Just that exact yellow color. The tiny lanyard is a bit uglier close-up. I tried to disassemble it to use some monofilament instead or something. Nothin' doin'. The lanyard rubs me the wrong way for some reason, but it's on there for good.

If your phone's got a microsd slot, consider this as an alternative to the usb cable for getting crap to and from it. Try carrying a usb cable on your keychain.

This thing is damn tiny. I really don't like a crowded keychain, this is very low-profile and pocket-friendly. Won't win any beauty contests. Anyone got a black or purple one for trade?

6 month update - still works, even uglier than when i got it, the thin plastic edges on the topside cracked and snapped off, but has no effect on functionality.

Year update - Broken! Totally! Got another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Item, August 21, 2007

This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
I buy a lot of chips and have many readers. The reader/writer that comes with this MicroSD chip is very small. If you know the size of MicroSD chips, look at it in the picture, you can see just how small this reader is.

The chips from this vendor are genuine SanDisk, which is a relief considering all the counterfeit junk out there nowadays. And the reader actually performs at USB 2.0 speeds, something else that is nice considering all the supposed USB 2.0 items that are really USB 1.1 inside.

All in all the reader and chip have performed without incident. I have had mine for about a year. I have used this combo to transfer and transport files and also used the chip in my cameras and cell phones.

I don't know what the problem is with the one reviewer who said his was defective. I do know that many times people do not format chips correctly or there is something wrong with the device they are using. My experience has been nothing but positive.

The vendor is OK too. I can't recall exactly, but I think shipping was pretty quick. The two items came in a padded envelope, which was nice.

At the current price I think these things are a bargain. I remember when 2GB micro sd chips were $50. Now, to get a chip and mini reader for less than $25, that's sweet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution, July 26, 2007

Not only is it amazing to get 2Gb of storage on something the size of a thumbnail, but the USB Card Reader Writer enables you to easily share larger files between your mobile device and any computer with a USB port!
I really needed a new larger capacity USB stick and really needed additional storage for my Windows Mobile device. This is the perfect solution.
It is so small however, that some people may find that using it as a USB stick is somewhat awkward. For me it works great.

no problems with the memory which does eveything it's supposed to do. The added USB adapter is useful for file transfer, but fiddly to use and not rugged.

This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
I originally bought this as a means of transferring photos from my LG cell phone to my laptop. Turns out the 2GB capacity coupled with the included USB adapter makes this an awesome USB thumb drive.

PROS: (1) microscopic size means it fits in any bag, even the tiniest camera case or that weird pocket-watch pocket found on denim jeans, (2) large 2 gig capacity can fit loads of photos or other files, (3) the included SD adapter makes it a great backup card in case your camera's SD card fills up, (4) there's a convenient notch on the back of the yellow case so you can pull the lanyard down to expose the USB connector, (5) Sandisk flash cards have exceptional quality, (6) low price: you basically get the SD and USB adapters for free.

CONS: (1) once loose, the outer yellow shell sort of dangles clumsily apart from the USB half - this doesn't affect performance at all: it just looks weird, (2) the micro card sits very snugly in the USB adapter, making it a bit hard to remove, despite a notch on the underside of the micro card that's apparently not deep enough.

BUYING ADVICE: If you primarily need a micro SD card for your camera or cell phone, I would highly recommend buying this product, as you basically get the SD and USB adapters for free. If you primarily need a USB thumb drive for frequent use, you might find a larger and sturdier device more usable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works grate"less formating", March 2, 2008
This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
Could not format the nice little 2G cards I have but... dont need to... due to the reason I got this little bute was to trans. music pics vid ect. to my phone and it formats great... then the reader works and transfers files with ease. I'm only using 2G miniSD cards in this little tiny, yes its small reader, but its working great for me and reads writes and identifies all my cards well after formating in phone or other multireader.

Better than I thought. The Reader is very small and easy to use. Protects my micro sd card while carrying it on my key chain. Blue Proton has very fast delivery. No complaints yet...

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 gigs are sweet., October 9, 2007
This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
Great value for a 2 gig microSD card and a reader.
Only problem is the reader's flimsy line which makes in non-suitable
for attaching your reader to your keys.
Card however works beautifully with my t629 phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars So small you can live with it on your key chain, September 21, 2007

This review is from: Sandisk MicroSD 2GB (SDSDQ-2048, bulk) & BlueProton USB 2.0 Card Reader Writer (Translucent) (Personal Computers)
This thing is real small. It is amazing to see. While many flash drives have a keychain hole, this is the only one I've seen that I actually can live with on my key ring. (I hate lots of stuff in pockets).

It works fine and the speed isn't bad either. Its faster than several of my bigger usb thumb drives. With 5 MB/s write times (writes are always much slower than reads).

The price is right too and it arrived quickly.

The only thing out of the ordinary is how warm it gets. I suppose it dissipates the same energy as a normal sized thumb drive but in a much smaller space and thus feels warmer. Doesn't seem to cause a problem though and it isn't exactly "hot", but warmer than you'd be used to.
