Great idea, and it works. BUT the problem I have with this device is that it does not attach solidly to my Mac's or external strips's ports. This means that if you TOUCH the device while you're uploading, say, photos to your computer, you will disconnect the device and probably destroy your data. The device is so loose in this regard that I would have thought twice about buying it if I had known. That being said, when I make sure not to go anywhere near the device when it's functioning it's been OK so far. So if you buy it, be careful.

I've found this device works every time I need it. I've been through a few readers, and this one has lasted just fine for my needs. Not only does it work with the 8Gb camera card we use with the iMac, but my library of other cards I use as USB boot drives for experimenting with the various OSX versions (10.4-10.7). Haven't tried it yet with linux distros or the AVG free cleaner distro but that'll be next when we have to fix a friend's infected Windows computer, again.

I think we got a genuine Sandisk: this is fast, even with the Class 10 speed (on the Mac), not flimsy and fits snug.

Its a great no frills SD card reader that can read the high capacity (HC) cards. I have a SanDisk 8GB Pro card for my camera and this reader works great with it.

This is very easy to use. You just put your SD Card in the reader, plug in the reader to the side of your PC/Laptop (or use a USB Cable) and wallah! You're set. There is a little blue indicator light on the end, too. This allows you to know the Reader is working properly. Very handy and very easy to use!
