I have been a hardcore cake sim fan for years, and nothing had prepared me for what was in store with Cake Mania 3. Cake Mania 2, with the advanced frosting physics and over the top batter mixing, was a game for the ages. Cake Mania 3 just blows 2 out of the water, or should I say out of the oven!. This game introduces incredible mechanics from precision slicing to turn-based layering. A must have for any cake sim fan.

I have all the Cake Mania games and this one is the best so far! They kind of upgraded the game where now all the characters have a voice, even Jill! It begins with Jill preparing for her wedding day when the timebender (from Cake Mania 2 that sends Jill to the future if you make that choice) gets broken and sends Jill's grandma, grandpa, Jill's friend Risha, Agent Bundt (from Cake Mania 2), Tiny (sumo wrestler from Cake Mania 2) and Jill into the past. You can choose whatever ancient past you want from either Prehistoric Age, Medieval England, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and France during the times of Marie Antoinette and Napoleon. After all those levels which get harder you're zapped to the future to play another level.

Another great thing is there's mini games and after you finished the future level you get to design Jill's wedding cake. It's great, addicting, and fun to play over and over. Enjoy!

Since I liked Cake Mania II so much, I had to try Cake Mania III and I wasn't disappointed. Everything about it was better - graphics, game play, characters, equipment, etc.

New twists - you get a 'Sugar Rush' - this causes your equipment to work instantly - once you accumulate enough repeating chains. There are mini-games where you can earn speed powerups (not that I ever remember to use them). Each world has a unique power-up, most of which are very useful. The best change, I thought, is that you don't have to buy every level of upgrade. If you are patient enough, you can save your money and get better equipment. So rather than buying the 600 dollar froster, then the 900 dollar one, you can skip right to the 900 one. But you do have to buy some intermediate level upgrades or you won't make goal so it makes you think about strategy, which is always fun to me.

New characters also add to the challenge. Robin Hood will steal money off the counter if you leave it there; a couple characters will change existing customer orders if you don't wait on them fast enough, and a couple will not allow you to wait on anyone else until you serve them. My favorite character is the green dragon who just orders over and over and over again, but he's really patient so the bucks add up when he comes in.

Negatives: the special power-up in the French world is a cake 'defroster'. Not only does this defroster button appear on all your frosters, taking a frosting color away from you, it also doesn't work, at least not for me. So it really makes things harder, not easier. Because of that, the French world should be played early so it won't cause problems later when you need all your frosters. Also, you can replay a level, but once you leave it you cannot go back and replay it. So if you made goal and want to go back and try for 'superstar' goal, you can only do it for the level you just played.

As for replay value, I have to say "so-so". Once you play enough, the game becomes far too easy. I played it again this week and I blew the superstar goal out of the water on almost every level. It wasn't exactly boring, but it wasn't especially challenging either. I played it several times before I got to this point, though, so it gave me many hours of enjoyment and was well worth the money.

This is a really nice game. I have played it for years and decided to finally buy it. It was a good choice, I recommend it to any one who's into the this kind of game.

If you like the other Cake Mania games, you'll like this one too. I am enjoying the new aspects of the game too, such as serving tea and the telephone customers. I wish there was a Nintendo DS or Mac version, since those are the platforms I usually use. But this PC version is fine and the price is great.

The game's not enjoyable for me since I can't get very far, no matter what strategy I try. It's more frustrating than fun.

I cant say how much fun this game is because I cant play it. It says vista compatible but it will not let me bake the cakes. And yes I tried going into options but it will not let me change anything. My computer is 2 months old. So dont blame the computer.

It's cute but it seems to move so slow. After the 30 minute trial I felt like I hadn't gotten very far because the baker just walks slow, takes awhile to bake, then frost. It got very boring very fast.

not enough cakes, all i can say really.

that dragon at the end is so hard, makes the game imposible to beat. make sure to save up on ammo!
