A FUN GAME FOR YOUNG AND OLD,

I owned this game a couple of years ago, until my PC crashed and I lost it. A couple of days ago Amazon had it on special so I bought it again. I spent many fun hours playing this game in the past. Lots of different characters, scenarios, and surprises.
In the game you are a merchant ship captain who goes to different Caribbean ports to buy commodities such as wood, fish, cotton, etc. etc. than you have to sell it at a different port hopefully at a profit. Each port is different, but basically has 3 to 5 places you can visit. You will have a market to buy and sell your commodities. Most ports but not all will have a ship yard where you can repair your ship from sea battles with Pirates or even buy a larger ship or more armament if you have the money. There is a bank for loans, a pub for local gossip, warehouses to store your cargo if prices are low, plus a Governors residents for special missions, just to name some. When at sea there are Pirate ships that are constantly trying to sink you. Of course you have your own armament to fight them off, hopefully you bought enough armament from your profits to protect your ship. The game keeps expanding as new ports and scenarios open up to you. The graphics are ok but not as good as some of the more expensive games. Nevertheless this is a fun game particularly if you always wanted to be a Swashbuckling Sea Captain in the days of old. Aye Mate; If you give me a thumbs up on this review, I'll give you some secret information " In the comments section " from the Tortuga Liars Pub and Grogg House.

This is a good choice if you are into strategy games. Reminds me a lot of Sid Meier's Pirates. It is very addictive, although the difficulty level is way too easy if you're good at games like this.

This is simply a fun game. If you like any type of trading game you'll enjoy this one. There are alot of games out there that knock your socks off with amazing graphics but, just aren't that much fun to play. Once the amazing graphics stop wowing you the honey moon is over. This is one of those games that is just alot of fun. Easily one of the best downloadable games here.

This is a very good game, much better than "Tradewinds", yet not so challenging that my older grandkids can't enjoy it too.

This game is fun for adults, but very short. If you are 12 years old, it would be a blast.

I really wanted to like this game, I really did.
And for the first hour, I enjoyed the game. And since the game is reasonably-priced, I suppose I got my money's worth. But the game becomes very repetitive. It quickly falls into a mind-numbing pattern something like this: Go to Port Royale to get a bracelet from the shipbuilder. When you arrive at Port Royale, the shipbuilder says he will give you the bracelet only if you first go to Havana and deliver a letter to his cousin. When you arrive at Havana, perhaps the cousin is there. But perhaps he has left for Tortuga. So off you go to Tortuga. Etc, etc. And every ship you meet at sea is a pirate ship! Every ship! No merchant ship to investigate. Just pirate ship after pirate ship. But I do give the game some credit. It doesn't have the overwelming micro-management you see in so many games. The menu-driven game style is done well. And it is good for an hour's gameplay. And as far as casual games go, this one is more relaxing to play than, say, Sid Meier's Pirates. I just wish that much more variety was included in the story line. |
