Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
The purpose of the game is to make money buy baking and selling cakes. It's your mission in life because the 'big box' store were unfair competition and, by working hard, you will outcompete them.

The customers will order a specific shape and frosting and they will pay you once the product is delivered. You get a tip if you deliver the cake in a timely fashion or you may lose the customer if you make them wait for too long.

The cycle goes like this:

- hand over the menu
- the customer picks shape and frosting
- bake the requested shape
- apply the frosting
- hand it over to customer
- pick up the money

It gets pretty frantic once you have more than 2 customers waiting and you need to optimize and multitask. You are successful if you meet your dollar target by the end of the day. The pace gets increasingly frantic as the game progresses.

That's just about it.

I can't say that the game has a high replay value and, unless someone is absolutely determined to run through the same repetitive cycle at a frantic pace, the motivation to advance is not that great.

On the good side, the graphics are okay in a cartoon/comics-style way. I'm afraid there's not much else to say. I don't believe I will play this game again. In fact, since neither my 6 yr. girl or my tween boys expressed any interest in it, I will probably uninstall it. Which, by the way, it's okay because I can always get it back from my Amazon-maintained downloads library.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gets old REALLY FAST September 19, 2009

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
It is much like diner dash, except with less to do, and way more boring. It gets old within 10 minutes, and I don't foresee me ever playing it again. She makes the cakes for people, you go through several processes and gives them to people, it is like a "rush" except sometimes you are clicking here and there and the b*tch doesn't even do what you tell her to do! Go ahead and get it if it is free, but I would not pay 50 cents for this game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay But Graphics Could be Better September 23, 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I have to say that I have been spoiled by playing Diner Dash. The graphics in that game are so much better than Cake Mania.
If I had never played Diner Dash, this might be a little more fun but in comparison, it is a disappointment.
There is just not enough variety, even though you can add equipment (it seems too hard to earn enough money in a timely manner to buy upgrades at a decent rate). And the challenge is a little boring after awhile. Don't get me wrong, it is hard to keep up after a bit but it is not as fun of a challenge.
There doesn't seem to be enough detail in graphics either. Movement is a little awkward.
Conclusion: Mediocre at best, good for a few minutes of amusement while on hold.

1.0 out of 5 stars Games March 9, 2013

It looked like a fun game - and had it worked properly, it probably would have been fun. This could have been my computer and not the download's fault, but at about the 3rd level (it was fun until then) all of a sudden the animated girl just went completely manic - it was amusing, and the game was on sale so I didn't lose much - but every time I clicked on what task I wanted her to accomplish, she very energetically threw everything in the trash, then would run to each piece of equipment - spinning her arms. It was hilarious, but since I couldn't do anything with that, I uninstalled the product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but annoying September 19, 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I really like tycoon type games, but the Cake Mania's have never been a favorite. I downloaded this since it is available now for free and have found that while it is relatively easy at the starting levels, it gets very hard further in the game. It can also be very tedious at points. You have to be fast and make no mistakes once you get close to the end. That said, I will play this until I beat it but it is still not one I love. After playing the 2nd and 3rd versions of this game, I prefer them as there are better additions than the first.

This game does not function right. It will not let you save a game. You have to start from the beginning every time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Multi-tasking mania May 30, 2011

Create the correct size cakes, then frost them with the correct color and deliver them to the customer before they get mad and leave. I've played it quite a bit, it's just okay for me. I wish there were ways that you could purchase things to help you in the game, like an automatic helper for when the customers get mad. If you make one wrong cake it throws off the whole game. It's similar to "Crazy Cakes" on Pogo which I love, this one is still fun to play when my internet isn't accessable.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd recommend using a mouse with it
Very addicting! If using on a laptop, I'd recommend using a mouse with it. It is easier and faster to "serve customers" then. The pace picks up as you go along.
