4.0 out of 5 stars This is a gem, July 31, 2007

This review is from: Sandokan (Audio CD)
The De Angelis Brothers, who wrote scores for many spaghetti westerns and other Italian genre films, were often corny or downright bad; but this little gem shows them at their best. Most of the cuts on the album are variations of either the title theme or "Sweet Lady Blue," but the various treatments are sufficiently different in orchestration, tempo, and style that the album is never repetitious. The "Sandokan" theme in all its permutations is lush and stirring, especially in the sitar-and-strings rendition on cut 8, the best thing on the album. For fans of that amazing group of composers who scored Italian popular films and television in the 60s and 70s, this album is a must.
