Editorial Reviews

Grammy nominated and bestselling children s author, songwriter and music producer, Sandra Boynton, presents her first Country album, Frog Trouble. The album features 12 original songs by Boynton, arranged and mixed with Michael Ford. Boynton produced the tracks mostly in Nashville, with renowned session musicians and an All-Star roster. Each artist was hand-picked by Boynton for this retro sounding album, including Dwight Yoakam, Fountains of Wayne, Mark Lanegan, Kacey Musgraves, Ryan Adams, Ben Folds, Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker, Linda Eder, and Falls Mountain Cowboys.
With composer Michael Ford, Boynton has written and produced five albums, three of which have been certified Gold. She also received a GRAMMY nomination for the Boynton/Ford album Philadelphia Chickens. Frog Trouble has tracks ranging from Country to Bluegrass to Rockabilly to Honkytonk to Blues. It s truly an album for everyone or, as the cover says, "For ages one to older than dirt."

I heard this album featured on NPR 'Saturday Weekend Edition,' on KPLU. The music is very appropriate for young children, and definitely NOT inappropriate for adults (I speak as a still adolescent 62 year old sprint-triathloner). The songs are very listenable and catchy, and I am NOT a natural Country music fan, preferring metal, funk, hard rock, blues, jazz and classical. I don't even have any children, so all the listening to this album will be done by ME...! Give it a listen - some of the tracks can be found on YouTube - you won't be disappointed, children or no.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD for all ages September 6, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Sandra Boynton creativity does not end. This is a series of great songs written by Sandra and performed by top artists. As the cover says this collection of songs and illustrations pleases everyone from one to older than dirt. I love the cuts by Darius Rucker, Linda Eder and Allison Krause. The other cuts are great too and all have a bluesy, country throwback feel good vibe. Listen to it with or without your kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another winner! September 5, 2013

We're big fans of Sandra Boynton's music endeavours. This one is a country music blend so a little different. If you're not a fan of country music, this collection is likely not for you (I'm not a big fan but still enjoy it.) Immediate winners, Brad Paisley singing Copycat (the 1-year old starts dancing as soon as it comes on) and End of a Summer Storm by Alison Krauss and of course, the awesome Sandra Boynton illustrations. Would make an excellent gift for even adult fans of country music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frog Trouble - It's So Much More September 19, 2013
By Pete
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I find it fairly easy to review a Camera or a Restaurant. It takes good pictures... the food was delicious... but to find words to describe a children's book with music is far more challenging.
Frog Trouble is a Multi-Media Experience! The marriage of words, music and imagination in a page turning storybook.
Frog Trouble is Wonderful! What? Yes, Frog Trouble will be a flashback to your own childhood, if you are old enough to read this, and it will be something that you and your children, or grandchildren will remember as part of their childhood when they too, look back. In my humble opinion it is worthy of that. There is a magical age somewhere between birth and preteen rebellion when your child is truly yours and when "Read me a story Mommy", "Read me a story Daddy" has deep and lasting urgency and meaning. Frog Trouble fulfills that need. In this age of electronic bells and whistles it fills the void with words, music, imagination and bonding between parent and child that we all search for.
Frog Trouble is Fun! It is fun to listen and to turn the pages, to point at the Frog, the Trucks and the Pigs when they fly.
Each song is musical, lyrical and whimsical but some are noteworthy beyond. At the End of a Summer Storm, sung by Alison Krauss is simply beautiful. The words and music expressed through her voice is haunting. This ain't just kids' music. And, Beautiful Baby, beautiful child, sung by Darius Rucker is the voice of this father's heart, if only I had the words, the melody or the voice to express it. So for that I say Thank You for doing it for me.
Frog Trouble is Precious! Is it a book with music or is it music with a book? In either case it is Creative Genius and a work of Art. You must buy it now and start creating these memories with your own children and grandchildren while you still can.

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Every song was a GEM!. This CD is a wonderful collection of the most entertaining, upbeat song I have ever heard. I have been going to work singing one or more of the songs, even when I don't have the CD with me. And I am 65 YEARS OLD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love to dance with grandchild as well as sing along February 23, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I bought this and another CD by Sandra Boynton for my two grandchildren as Christmas gifts. One child is only a year and the other a year and a half. I watched the making of this CD on UTube prior to purchasing such. I was so happy to get both immediately on my iCloud Player on my cell phone so I could listen and play wherever. Very lively songs to which we dance and sing.

This cd is very fun. My 2 year old enjoys the music and tries to sing along. I enjoy it also. It's not as childish as other kids cds, but has real songs with real music.
