This is a fine surround and capture style game, but it is not something to play very often as the game-play is not compelling. In the game, players take turns placing their war band pieces on paths leading to forts. Pieces are placed by rolling dice, which creates some luck and randomness. Once all the paths leading to a fort are filled, the fort is captured by the player with the most surrounding pieces, unless there is a tie. Some forts are larger and will be taken by the 1st and 2nd players with the most surrounding pieces. The size of the fort is determined by how many paths lead to it (2-6) and is also how many points are received for capturing the fort. All in all it is not a bad game and I have found it easy to teach. This is not for players seeking exciting or thematic game play. It is more akin to checkers or chess, while being light and multi-player. The game is very portable, but this also means that it is somewhat fiddly due to pieces filling a tiny board, which is two-sided to provide some variation. Also, the pieces are not carved, just printed and are already starting to wear off.
