4.0 out of 5 stars A pretty fun card game February 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I recently saw this game at a comic book shop and it looked sort of fun. Inquiring about it, I found that a couple of the guys at the shop had played it before, and they said it was pretty fun. I looked for more descriptions of it, online, and then I added it to my mental checklist of stuff to purchase at some point in the future. I ordered it the other day from amazon, and have now had a chance to play it a few times. It's a fun little game, and one I would recommend to my friends. The title, alone, is sure to get people interested in playing, seeing as how it's so twisted. In actuality, the game is really tame, and all of the pictures on the cards are colorful and cartoony - just like the artwork on the box cover. Play is pretty fast and a piece of cake to learn. Even my 4-year old has played this game and spent a lot of time laughing.

I should point out that this is a 2-4 player game. The product description on amazon states that this is a 3-12 player game, and that is just a flat-out mistake that needs correcting. Each player is assigned one of the four colors of the kitten cards, and there's just no room for others to play without some sort of future expansion. I don't know that adding more players would make the game any more fun, but maybe it will happen some day if profits demand it?

As stated in the product's description, the game CAN be completed in about 30 minutes if you are playing with four players. Play with fewer, and the length of game play will be shortened. Any way you play it, the game time is pretty fast, and can be set up to play very quickly, too, so there's almost always time for a round of this funny game. Fun for kids or adults, this inexpensive card game is a good addition to your family game collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly inappropriate, but extremely fun February 1, 2012
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 2.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Telling friends you play "Kittens in a Blender" is unlikely to get you invited to many parties...

A fast-paced card game, the objective is very simple: You need to save as many of your kittens from being blended, at the same time trying to blend as many of your opponent's kittens. The mechanics are simple and easy to explain, with everything clearly printed on the cards. The artwork is very well done, with strong, vibrant colors and good visuals. Nothing gory or disgusting, which is good and would work against the game. You can play a game in about a half hour or so, giving plenty of opportunity to replay over the course of an evening. And with no small pieces to lose, it's easily portable and quick to set-up and clean-up.

The only downside is that this is strictly a 2-4 player game. Given how the kittens are identified (by color), you can't really add more decks to expand play to more than 4 players. So, if there were an expansion with different colored sets of kittens and some extra cards from the main game, that would work. But, really, how many people do you know who'd play a game with a title like this?

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun December 12, 2011

Kittens in a Blender is one of those games that is easy to explain and get started, even when playing with people who have never played before. It's different with every group you play with, which makes it a game you can play over and over. I'm sure kids would enjoy this game, but I've played only with adults and it is a hoot!

4.0 out of 5 stars I've apologized to my kitties several times but I like playing this.
Fun, quick game. We play it while waiting for others to show up for high-strategy gaming or at the end if we've got a little time left and want to play something a little lighter. Read more

No, there are no gruesome pictures of kittens on a frappe setting in this game. This isn't "Resident Feline", "Dawn of the Shed" or "Underfurred: A New Countertop". Read more
