I contacted Sandtastik Inc. and they confirmed it is free of asbestiform tremolite as questioned by another reviewer. This is the safest sand available. Sandtastik White Play Sand has the ACMI - AP non toxic seal and has ASTM D4236 certification - meaning it has gone through rigorous testing to make sure it is completely safe. This sand is NATURAL sand, unlike most quartz mined man-made play sands. Molds well when wet. PERFECT, SAFE solution for children's sand tables. Not to mention it looks beautiful! The only drawback is the price - not to practical to fill an entire 200lb sand box with it and I won't allow my kids to put water in the sand/water table since they'll turn it into mud and it will have to be replaced often. I don't want to have to replace it often at this price! I do highly recommend it though - My children's safety is worth the extra cost.

I learned lots about this product Sandtastik white play sand after my toddler got some of it in her eye less than one week ago at a playgroup. She was playing with the sand for a half hour, dumping buckets and scooping up the sand. As she played, I did notice some fine dust from the sand in the air which concerned me. While playing with the Sandtastik sand, she rubbed her eye with some of the sand on her fingers. While rubbing her eye, she rubbed the skin under her eye too. Here is what happened next...
- Within a couple hours of playing with the Sandtastik play sand with my child, I noticed small prickles of pain in my skin. -The night this happened, both her eyes appeared to be sunken in. I have no idea why this would happen but it did. - Her right eye became alarmingly bright red within a couple of days, followed by the left eye a couple days later. - After gently wiping my daughter's skin with a wet cloth, the fine sharp grains of this Sandtastik sand were still on her skin, and dug even deeper and ripped into my daughter's skin and left dozens of small red marks on her face. This sand was especially hard on the delicate tissue under the eye. Under her eye, her skin was bright red. - She had a dry cough and sneezing without a few hours of exposure which has diminished somewhat - She had clear watery mucus coming out of her nose for a couple of days. I do not believe this was a cold because the mucus was completely clear. I believe her body was trying to rid itself of the particulate matter stuck in her nasal passages. - The mucus has stopped but my daughter continues to pick her nose constantly which she has never done before. Great clean safe sand. No silica. Works great for decorations and art projects or as play sand. Very soft feeling. Not coarse like regular sand. Molds great when damp. Pricey compared to normal sand, but worth it in my opinion.

love it that the sand is so safe. It looks very white and sparkly. Only problem is its so fine that once it gets in to the hair its very difficult to wash it off and my toddler hates getting her hair washed. So now we put her in the sandbox with a cap on her head.

I use this sand in sand tray therapy. The sand was clean, pearly white and sparkly. My only complaint is that I expected it to not be dusty and it is a little dusty.

This is the second batch in 6 years I have bought. My kids love playing with this sand and can play for hours. It is very very fun and safe and very easy to clean up!

The sand is for a sandbox that I built for my two Granddaughters. The sand is pure white, soft and safe. Recommend the sand for a good time in the sand box! Only issue maybe is; the shipping cost.
