2 years and NEVER a problem! Couldn't be do business without it!,

This review is from: Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo (Electronics)
I've had the 400 Turbo for almost two years. I use it non stop every day for my Amazon and Ebay shipping. You can even put your own logo or picture on the lables. It is quick and super easy to use. I don't understand the folks who are giving it bad reviews. They must be incompetent or smoking things.

Have used this printer and it's predecessor the 300,for the last 5+ years in my business. I use it everyday for price tag, address and product id labels. Sometimes use it for Dymo stamps. It has always worked flawlessly. Installed easily on my windows pc before I upgraded to a macintosh system.. Installed just as easily on my mac osx and still works flawlessly. Dymo stamps is a nice service for limited mailing options. If you want to use dymo stamps for business then you should consider endicia's full subscription service for all your options instead of complaining about the dymo. Some people are giving this printer a bad rap here. Possibly they also have trouble adding 1+1 and getting the correct answer.

Convenient. Very Convenient.,
This review is from: Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo (Electronics)
I was skeptical to buy one of these because of the reviews, but I gave it a shot and it works great. I have Vista and it installed with no problems. I have been able to print all kinds of USPS labels. Very sleek design, prints very smooth. I would definitely recommend.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo (Electronics)
My only complaint about this printer, is to myself for not purchasing it sooner. We print out thousands of labels per year and this little Dymo has not hiccup'd once. It's a true plug 'n play device. (at least on my mac). One thing I would recommend is to bypass the Dymo branded labels which, like most officially branded consumables, are way over priced and no better than 3rd party products. I get mine from Labels And More here on Amazon. Good stuff.

Good idea poor implementation. Especially for postage.,
This review is from: Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo (Electronics)
I've owned the 400 Turbo for a couple of weeks now.Main driver (software) install was ok and easy on an IMAC. Secondary install of stamp software not as easy. Problems so far. 1. Instructions tell you that you must make sure "clamps" are pushed all the way up against labels so labels print straight and machine doesn't malfunction. Problem is some of the spools of labels, new from package, have end that is taped to the spool NOT centered. (Clamps cannot be positioned without leaving a gap and printing is skewed.) I had to carefully unroll all labels, pull off tape that's holding the end of the reel of labels and place tape in center of spool. Then carefully rewind labels back on reel. Big waste of time. 2. Using the standard first class letter stamps has a couple of flaws. First when you buy stamps you must buy $10, $25, $50, etc. You always end up with some odd number of cents not used after you purchase your 44 cent stamps. If they want to only have fixed amounts of stamp purchases make the prices line up. 3.The first time I printed stamps I started with 10. Well I did not unroll the labels an look at each label first. There was one label missing on the roll and of course it printed nothing and I wasted 44 cents. I fortunately unrolled the rest of the reel and counted the stamps, finding that the tape that's holding the end of the labels would have never released preventing the last 4 or 5 of the stamps on the reel from printing and wasting more money. Punch line, you must unroll reel, and count and examine each label or you risk wasting money. I have no idea about long term reliability. Overall this was a great idea with poor implementation. It's fine, so far, for standard address labels and return address labels. I already have multiple ways of printing address and return address labels and bought this to add the postage features and maybe do addresses and postage on one small unit. (Other reviews discuss other postage issues.)

Warning! DYMO Stamps is a scam!,

Not So Fast! Before you rush out and slap down hundreds of dollars for Dymo Stamps and equipment, know this: YOU CANNOT USE DYMO STAMPS TO SEND ANYTHING BY PRIORITY MAIL UNLESS YOU USE USPS FLAT RATE PACKAGING!!! Already have your own box? Forget it! This is outrageous! Nowhere are you warned by either the Dymo or Endicia web sites, the packaging, or the program itself of this crippling shortcoming. They fool you into spending[..]on a USB-connected scale, then when you connect it up and click the "Weigh" button (foolishly expecting that it will actually give you a rate based on your package's weight) it pops up a window with buttons representing your ONLY choices of flat rate boxes and envelopes. AS IF I NEED THIS STUPID PROGRAM TO TELL ME HOW MUCH A FLAT RATE BOX WILL COST TO MAIL. Isn't knowing the cost is fixed the whole point of FLAT RATE?! The point of course, is that they are trying to get you to upgrade to their monthly service plans, where they de-cripple the software and let you put in actual postage ammounts to print, instead of flat rate stamps. What's another [..]a year (in addition to postage) when you've already spent[...] on a printer and a scale? Plenty! If you're like me, you don't mail enough per month to justify the extra expense. This is the most heinous bait-and-switch scam to which I have fallen prey in recent memory, and I hope that I'm able to save many of you the pain, expense, and aggravation of being suckered like I was. If you want to print your own postage to mail anything by Priority Mail other than USPS Flat Rate packages, DO NOT BUY DYMO!!!

Terrible Software, and Not Compatible with Snow Leopard,
By
This review is from: Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo (Electronics)
Have had a LabelWriter 400 for a couple of years. When it works, it's fine. But, when changing rolls of labels, it often acts up, and wastes a lot of labels. Also, just tried upgrading to their "new" software, v. 8.2. (I'm running a Mac with Snow Leopard). CATASTROPHE! Does not work! Software has crashed several times in the last hour, and won't import the address file from the last version of the software. The Dymo software has always been their weak point (it isn't WYSIWYG for one thing), but the newest release for Snow Leopard is worse than weak -- it flat out doesn't work. I do NOT recommend this product if you're on a Mac and have or are planning to get Snow Leopard.

We bought this unit to print receipts on continous labels. No way, it wont do it. Driver has bugs when you swith to continuous paper. Prints stamps nicely, but that is it.
