5.0 out of 5 stars Great daily reference--in clinic and hospital, March 7, 2006

Great quick pocket reference, use it daily for both out-pt and in-pt infectious disease treatment. Details first line therapy (and includes pediatric doses), and gives concise clinical criteria for back-up choices (eg. treatment failures, associated comorbidities, drug allergic patients).

The ID guys never question my antimicrobial choices! If Sanford can't give you an answer, then and only then will you need to call in the ID specialists.

The print is pretty small though, so if you've got poor eyesight, go for the larger print spiral-bound edition.

I just wish I was able to use PDA version...

One of the definitive texts on "what antibiotic do I use as first line, or second line, or...". takes a little while to get the organization of the text (I got an entire 2 hour class on how to use it in school, which was nice). Be warned, certain resistances (MRSA, for instance) are outpacing annual editions of books. Recommended!

This is a truly indispensable guide-- I keep one at every site where I work (I am a primary care nurse practitioner). I highly recommend it for any health care provider!
