Finally! The Second Season of Sanford & Son is here! It wasn't that long ago when Season One came out, but the wait felt like forever...this show is just too funny! Now we get more Sanford & Son than before, but at the same price! (Season 2 has 24 episodes spread over three discs and Season 1 had 14 on two discs) Season 2 ran from September 1972 to March 1973 and introduces new classic characters like Bubba (Don Bexley), Julio (Gregory Sierra), Rollo (Nathaniel Taylor), and of course Aunt Esther (LaWanda Page). Don't worry, Officer Smitty and Melvin are still here. Redd Foxx only becomes more hilarious as Fred and his chemistry with Demond Wilson (Lamont) makes you think they really are father & son. What's more, the digital transfer is great considering this is 1970s TV at the push of a button. No more commercials and in chronological order! Can't wait for Season 3, when we're introduced to Grady (Whitman Mayo) and treated to much more Aunt Esther! Looking forward to the release of the remaining four seasons (including Season 3) which will complete the total Sanford & Son series (6 Seasons total). It will be great to have the complete collection. Don't be a "big dummy"...buy this today! Season 2 consists of the following episodes:Disc One: Also highly recommended on DVD:

More unforgettable episodes.01. The Light Housekeeper: When Fred feigns injury, Lamont gets a housekeeper that is lazier than Fred. 02. Blood is thicker than Junk: Lamont wants to prove he is able to make it on his own, Fred is too proud to admit he needs Lamont. By the end, they both hilariously proclaim they are right as they get back together. 03. By the Numbers: Dreaming up lottery numbers, Fred decides to take a trip to Vegas, only to have family and friends suddenly have a string of bad luck that requires his winnings to fix. 04. Card Sharps: Fred tries to educate Lamont on the way cardsharks operate. Ron Glass gives a great pre-Barney Miller performance. 05. Whiplash: Hit by a white man in a black cadillac, Fred thinks he is sitting on a gold mine. 06. Have gun, will Sell: An attempted robber is foiled when Lamont comes home early. In his escape, the robber drops a gun that Rollo convinces Lamont and Fred to sell. 07. The Dowry: Cousin Grady (not the same Grady as the later episodes) comes to visit from St. Louis with his new wife and overweight stepdaughter. When Fred learns she gets a good chunk of change upon marriage, he sets up Lamont, but Lamont has the last laugh. 11. The Puerto Ricans are coming: Another Pre-Barney Miller actor Gregorio Sierra was a long time regular and the even tempered neighbor that showed Fred's racist side. The list goes on and on. This is a worthwhile collection for fans of the series as well as the younger generation.

Sanford and Son Season 2,

What's funny is that as I tried to get the 1st season, they were sold out so I got the second season and get this; I got more than what I asked for. Getting three discs with some 20something episodes, I felt like I put TV Land out of business with my own S&S marathon. These discs have parts I didn't even know were on the original shows so that was a treat within itself. Seeing the introduction of Rolo was a big laugh. I thought I would never stop laughing. These episodes are like fine liquor, they only get better with age. I had a little trouble playing the episodes one right after the other but that was fixed with a minor adjustment on my DVD player, so like I said, no commercial interruptions and hours of Sanford along with the right adult beverage, oh man, almost as good as -- well not that good but still a close 10th.

Why did it take so long for these DVD's to be available! I already own season 1 and 2 and can't wait for season 3 to be available. With episodes like, the Blind Mellow Jelly episode (I want my daddys records), and The pool table episode. This is absolutely the number 1 or 2 comedy series of all time.Season 3, when available, wil be the best so far with more episodes featuring Aunt Ester,(You old weasel eyed heathen) and more of Bubba, Leroy, Skillet, Rollo, and others. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Great show, but possible bad transfer?,

The greatness of the Sanford & Son series goes without saying; however, I am wondering if I got a defective DVD set, or if all the DVDs have transparent yellow bands (this is most noticeable on Disc One/Episode: Blood is thicker than Water) in the picture? If it is just due to them using the poor source material recorded in the 70's, I can live with that. Anyone else experiencing this? Otherwise, don't pass up the first and second season of Sanford & Son on DVD up! These DVD sets are a great value for such a classic and hilarious series.

Many Great episodes. Fred and Lamont are back with a great cast of characters. Lena Horne makes an appearance in an episode. The episode titled "Rated X" is great. Great collection and a great series.

I saw Sanford and Son on Dutch television, back in the 70's, when I was a little kid. At that time already laughed a lot with them. And now even more, because I understand more of the jokes they tell. I have to look these DVD's at a PC, because of the region-code 1. But I'm enjoying it very much. The Quality is not that good (about 30 years old!), but acceptable. I hope they will release these series also in Holland, with Dutch subtitles.

I love Sanford and Son. I grew up on it,and for it to be on dvd is a danger to my funny-bone. I have all 3 season's but I really like this season because it concentrates on the realtionship between Fred and Lamont. Not too may guest and not too many scenes that go beyond the junk yard. I watched alot of TV sitcoms growing up, and Sanford and Son was always the funniest. Now, I watch it every day. I have a nice cataloge of DVD's to choose from and cable Tv, but I can't help but put in Fred. If and when the season episodes of the Martin Lawrence show come out.........It's all over for me. I will cut the cable TV and go into hiding. Enjoy!!
