5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent!
I first heard Johnny Hallyday's voice during the 2002 Winter Olympics ice dancing competition and was totally overwhelmed. I had not heard of Johnny Hallyday before, but after hearing his dynamic, sensual, vibrant voice singing "Quelques Cris", I had to have his "Sang Pour Sang" and several of his other cds.
Magnificent!

1.0 out of 5 stars The "French Elvis" or the "French Michael Bolton"?
This is the kind of horrible music which the French seem to love. They call it "variete". Overbearing violins and horns matched by corny formula songwriting do not do justice to Johnny Hallyday's superb voice. With the exception of the lovely ballad "Un jour viendra" and the great rocker "Les larmes de la gloire", this album cowritten by...

5.0 out of 5 stars Like fine French wine that keeps getting better with age, April 10, 2005

Monsieur Hallyday's CD, Sang Pour Sang, is my current drive to work heart fuel. He has a voice as tough as a bucket of nails and knows exactly what to do with it and when. This collection has some of his best work, my favourites being the impossibly romantic "Un Jour Viendra" and "Je T'aime Comme Je Respire". The latter piece, for those old enough to remember, evokes memories of Leo Ferre's vocal richness and orchestral arrangements in his albums "Leo Ferre Chante Verlaine et Rimbaud I&II". This man is truly a legend in his own time and his time keeps going on to find new fans, young and mature.

In some occassions time does not pass.
Once again Johnny Hallyday shows that he's still THE great French megastar. He always has that wonderful voice which made of him a great star since the early 60s.
The fact that this CD has been co-written and co-produced by David Hallyday, his son of his marriage to Sylvie Vartan, is an extra-bonus, "les Hallyday-Vartan" constitute a musical dinasty of the highest quality.
