First, let me say that this is another in the series of books that William Gray has written that revolve around the Kaballah. You need to be familiar with the Kaballah as he teaches it to be able to use this book. I'm not saying this to be discouraging. I had Dion Fortune's Kaballah book for years and never could get into it because it seemed so dry and dull, and I never knew why I needed to know the Kaballah or what it could be used for. But once I read Gray's Ladder of Lights, his basic Kaballah book, a whole new and wonderful world of spirituality opened up to me.

My personal opinion is it's worth the trouble to read Ladder of Lights before you use this tarot book if you want to be anything more than a superficial reader of the tarot, in other words, a tarot parrot.

Teachers like Gray don't come along every day, and I urge you to take advantage of his instructions, as I have. I have always been ahead of my time insofar as my interests are concerned because whatever unusual idea or ideas I have found absorbing, no matter how the mainstream decried or poo pooed them, to my great amusement, 20 or more years later they not only became mainstream, but the mainstreamers denied that they hadn't always thought that way. I can tell you now that I am intensely interested in Gray's teachings, and I think they will form the backbone of the religion of the future. They won't be the end of everything, but the beginning.
