The person who designed this used their head. They kept it simple; no bells and whistles just a practical toilet that works perfectly, doesn't leak and is easy to empty and clean.

UPDATE ON MY REVIEW 5/13/10

While all I said above is true, now after 4 years of use I have to add that replacement parts are nowhere to be found. The plunger to flush it has worn out and the "slide" lever to dump into the holding tank is starting to freeze up. I'd like to replace them but can't find parts anywhere. For a hundred bucks I can't expect the moving parts to last forever and I don't mind replacing worn parts BUT WHERE DO I FIND THEM??

That being said, if I can't find them I will buy this toilet again. I leave mine outdoors all summer long in our woods in order to camp with my kids whenever the weather permits. So I'm pretty hard on it.

We bought this one to replace a another brand. This was "head and shoulders" above that one in terms of ease of use and features that the whole family appreciated. We used ours for camping in our RV and once in an emergency when our home system went down.

We bought this one to replace an older one. We needed more capacity.

We got this one and it was missing a cap. We talked with the seller and they got the missing part right out. Works fine, holds a lot and the pump mechanism seems to be much better than the smaller older competetors brand. Time will tell!

It's really a lot more substantial that I expected. Which, in a toilet, I suppose is a good thing.

Nice and sturdy, no more or less than described, and very well made. It's a terrific item, although I think it is a little high in price. I think it's sort of funny that you can buy a camp stove to cook for $50, but have to pay $100 to ... well, you know. Great item, all the same.

It works like this - The unit holds a fresh water tank. You pump the pump handle, to fill the bowl with water. Do what you need to do, and pull the flush handle. Everything goes down into the waste tank. When you see (from the indicator) that it needs emptied, you detach the waste tank (it's actually pretty civilized), attach the spout, and empty it.

If you want a portable toilet, get this one. It's much more than "a bucket with a seat on the top," and it's the best I have ever seen.

T am very pleased with this product. I pack it in with a lot of other gear and I think it might be a little too lightweight, but once it has water in it the lightness is appreciated. Also, the disposal pipe attachment to the bottom could be a little more secure. However, overall a very good product at a fair price.

Our family was quite pleased with the Sanitation Equipment Visa 248 Deluxe Portable Toilet. The price was/is right and it was very easy to install. I would definately recommend it, if you need this product.

We bought this porta potty for use on our boat. However, my husband and a friend went camping last week and were quite impressed. Our friend is quite large and he was very pleased with the durability and 'comfort' of the seat. I'm happy with the flushing and easy to attach cleaning spout. I would recommend this to anyone with a need for one.

So far no problems we used it alot this summer while we were camping. Especially my 5 year old daughter, so much easier than walking to the bathrooms during the night. It seemed easy enough to clean(left that up to my hubby)no major complaints from him.

I thought this was a joke when it came, its tiny ,very tiny. I mean for a deluxe its a waste of money. its like a baby toilet. my kids thought it was. really to call this a deluxe someone had to have been on wacky tobaky

I bought one of these thinking I wanted the largest capacity toilet. It holds A LOT but I realized my mistake when we got back from a trip and had to get it to the house to empty. My sis and I (both 50 years old/chubby) had great difficulty even with a hand truck and there was no controlling the sloshing as it went into the hopper. We laugh about it now but the whole house reeked until we got every splatter cleaned up! I know that I can only lift about 2.5 liquid gallons so am toilet "down-sizing" before our next trip. Works great, flush tank must be full in order to work or you have to do a little priming(oh joy in the middle of the night).I plan to get around this problem by just leaving the flushing tank empty and using a small spray/bottle of water/cleaner to rinse the bowl after using.
