This book along with its companion "Karma Sannyasa" are the only books that I know of that give knowledge of the Sannyasa tradition. This is a great book for people who are interested in living a life dedicated to spiritual practice. This book is a very in depth course of the Sannyasa tradition. It has all you would ever need to know, and more! It for the very serious, very dedicated aspirant, but it is also a very informative and humbling book to read for those who are just curious. This tradition, is basically that of the wandering mendicant. The homeless, possesionless, holy man. For those who wouldn't dream of that kind of life, the book "Karma Sannyasa" is also very, very good. Karma Sannyasa is the spiritual life for "the rest of us".
