4.0 out of 5 stars Filled the bill!
What I needed was a simple analog monitor. Since this unit had an input for composit video, I was hopeful it would suffice. Thankfully, it filled the bill. I would have preferred that the connection were on the back, but can live with it as is. The picture is clear and sharp even if slightly cropped from the CRT mask.

2.0 out of 5 stars What's the deal with channel selection?
I bought this set because it had the biggest picture size that would fit under my kitchen cabinets. Picture quality is good; sound is OK. But selecting channels is a real hassle: apparently it can only be done by marching up or down via channel selection buttons or by entering 2 groups of three numbers separated by a hyphen (i.e. 000-000). Just pressing the channel number...

I would have preferred that the connection were on the back, but can live with it as is. The picture is clear and sharp even if slightly cropped from the CRT mask.

P.S. Some months later -- After only a couple months the picture started to lose color and sometimes would tear badly (picture distortion). Other times it would lose all color. Usually turning the power off and back on would correct it, but not always. Very disappointing.

Unless I'm missing something really obvious, this has to be one of the most bone-headed control schemes ever.

The Sansui DTV 1300 is a very good small TV. Nothing very fancy, but everything works as advertised.

I thought I was originally getting an Orion t.v. However, that mislabeling does not diminish the t.v.'s performance. Digital t.v.s still require an antenna. (I have two antennas) I don't plan to add cable because paying for the internet is enough. The t.v. performs okay. I have to constantly re adjust the antenna when I change channels. However, the performance is not too bad. I'm just glad to be ready for February 2009 without having to buy a $1500 television that I will need help in moving if I decide to change apartments.

This is a perfect little television for the kitchen countertop. I was impressed with the quality of the picture as well. This is a fairly basic tv, with none of the fancy bells and trimmings-but a quality unit for its price. The silvercolored housing is a stepup from the basic black units in its price range too. Plus, the digal channels are just as impressive as on a much larger television.

I have recently ordered and returned to Etronics one of these. It bled fluorescent colors from sides and corners, ruining the picture, tinting faces and backgrounds alike. I just received a replacement, and it does the same thing, along with a lot of fuzziness, so I will be returning it for a refund. I called Sansui, and they offered no help. my assumption is that the tubes are faulty or of poor quality. Sound is mediocre on the set. Tuning is difficult when going to digital channels. Sounds like others have had better luck.

I needed a small digital tv to replace an old analog. It's just what I needed. The picture is sharp and the sound isn't the greatest but it does the job for me.

I purchased two of these units as monitors for some DVD recorders and they are marginal at best. The seller was fine -- no mark against them -- other than selling an inferior product. The picture quality is not particularly sharp, the colors are over saturated and even with adjustment still tear. Only purchase these if you don't need to watch the picture -- just use it for monitoring. I will probably keep them...but I don't have a lot of confidence that they will last very long.
