5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic recipes from restaurants in the Santa Cruz area, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Santa Cruz Cooks! (Spiral-bound)

I mostly love this cookbook out of nostalgia more than anything else. I lived in the Santa Cruz mountains for about six years and many of the restaurants mentioned here are ones I visited at one point or another. It's kind of fun to have a small compendium of recipes from restaurants that I used to go to in our old neighborhood or thereabouts.

When this cookbook first came out, we saw it at all the local supermarkets, near the check out - over at Ben Lomond Market and others. Now, you can't really find the Santa Cruz one anywhere and can only find the Monterey Bay cookbook at the pancake breakfast, hosted at the senior citizen center in Ben Lomond, CA. I snatched up quite a few copies - they make nice gifts to friends and family and have the added bonus of being something that I can share with others that includes some of my favorite eateries near the redwoods and other favorite places that we enjoyed visiting.

Some of the restaurants that these recipes came from are no longer in business unfortunately (or changed owners several times to the point where they are no longer the same restaurants), but I remember those places fondly and it's nice to have a keepsake of the recipes that they used to make.
