Great Holiday book!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Santa Paws (#1) (Paperback)
Santa Paws is about a dog who was a street dog with his family. But then, his family got taken by the pound so he's on his own. It's Christmas time and numerous people who see him try to take him home but, he's scared so he runs away. I like this book because it's so simple. He walks around all day... sometimes to the park... sometimes to the back of the pizza parlor to get a drink.... he's in a small town and you get the small town feeling you get when you watch "Gremlins". He saves about six or seven people's lives and ends up getting an owner. to find out who the owner is, read the book.

A good enough read...,
This review is from: Santa Paws (#1) (Paperback)
Santa Paws, a book for middle school kids about a puppy who is kinder and more caring than many humans. My then 7 year old enjoyed it, and I enjoyed reading it to him because there was a message included. This dog, abandoned and homeless itself, goes out of its way to help people in need. The story is engaging enough to be a family read, which to us means a chapter or two a night, for several evenings.

The Life of a Homless Dog,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Santa Paws (#1) (Paperback)
Santa PawsSome of my favorite parts in the book Santa Paws are when he saves people, and goes through a lot to get his home. It is sad his mother accidentally left him when he was a puppy. There are other books published of Santa Paws. There is a series of them listed in the book.In all the books, he saves people wherever he goes. I greatly recommend that you read this adventurous book of an adventurous dog because it makes you feel how lucky you are to have what you have and to be safe and not starving to death.

The one line summary and the rating were provided by the 10 yr old who had just completed the book. She enjoyed the story even if it was sad in places. This is the first book my non-reader has willing sat down and read from start to finish without complaint. Edwards captures the imagination and hits the perfect emotional pitch for this age group

Santa Paws was a great book. It was very descriptive and the characters in the book were great. The only Critisism in this story was that the author never told the reader the parents' names. Santa Paws is a fantastic family book and is great for the holiday season.

Too "PC" for kids,
By Paul R. (NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Santa Paws (#1) (Paperback)
Point of view from dog is silly and unbelievable, even if the dog is sweet, lovable and always helping. Beyond that, author is too "politically correct" and that harms children who get Scholastic books shoved their way at public schools. She can't let Christmas be about the birth of Christ but has to try to censor it by saying that the "holiday season" is really about a "Festival of Many Lands" and that "everyone" must be included. It is good to learn about other cultures, but not at the expense of one religion, Christianity. And no, you can NOT have a "non religious Christmas service" - then it just would be something completely different. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ, period. Parents, think, and pay attention to the brain-washing going on at school.

A Great Book For All Kids That Love Dogs,
This review is from: Santa Paws (#1) (Paperback)
I first read Santa Paws when I was 8. I loved it so much because Santa Paws did everything and anything to help poeple even though know one did anything to help him. I am also a dog lover and scince this story is about a dog I was drawn to it. I felt kind of bad though because this dog did eveything he could, (he even risked his life) to save people in need but the end was very cute. I strongly recommend this book to kids between the agaes of 7 and 10. Also, parents it would be nice if you read this book to them at night.
