From the first Rose Carnival in 1864, to the Great Earthquake in 1906, and the building of Highway 101, this book documents the history of Santa Rosa, illuminated in over 200 vintage postcards. 4.0 out of 5 stars Santa Rosa, California in Vintage Postcards, June 5, 2011

This review is from: Santa Rosa (CA) (Postcard History Series) (Paperback)
This is an Arcadia publication which means all the postcard photos are in black and white, no color. That's why I only gave it four stars, otherwise I'd rate it a high five. If postcards can be printed in color, why can't they be shown that way in the book? Nevertheless, this book is an important resource for postcard collectors and San Francisco Bay Area history buffs. As a transportation planner I especially like the cards relating to the Northwestern Pacific Railroad and the Petaluma & Santa Rosa Electric Railway. The electric railway is long gone, but after being shut down for several years NWPRR is about to haul freight once again between Lombard in Napa County to Windsor in Sonoma County, California. Add this wonderful "yesteryear" book to your library or at least your coffee table!
