Extremely disappointed,
By
This review is from: Santa In A Stetson (Paperback)
The description on the back of this book sounds like a fun Christmas story, unfortunately the book inside is ABSOLUTELY nothing like the description. This includes the main character, the back says her name is Diana Palmer (??!!) but inside it is Diana Mills. I wish I could have read the book that it was supposed to be.

Disheartening Book - Not A Holiday Book,
By
This review is from: Santa in a Stetson (Center Point Platinum Romance (Large Print)) (Hardcover)
The back cover reveals a story line that the book doesn't deliver. Early on I started to expect a sad story. A holiday romance is supposed to be fun to read. There was little to no holiday spirit to this book. Diana definitely makes all the adjustments in the relationship. Lije gets away with being the tough cowboy; not making much of an effort to build the relationship. A "fine holiday offering" this is not. (P.S. Reviewers need to actually read the book.)

this is a reissue,

How do I say this? I feel like someone tried to pull a fast one. The book is a reissue of an old Harlequin romance novel with 2 or 3 added chapters (to make it a holiday book). Mind you, I loved the original book - Land of Enchantment - but there was no christmas in the original. I can't believe they are actually marketing it as a new book. As a fan of the author I feel like they are trying to trick me.

Not a Christmas story.,

The title of this book is very misleading and disappointing.
While not a bad story overall, it had very little to do with Christmas until the last 15 pages. I liked the characters in the beginning, but by the end I was disappointed in Lije's overall attitude and his expectations of Diana (i.e. She did all the changing, adjusting, and he got everything just the way he wanted with very little compromising or anything on his part).

Misleading book description and not very Christmasy,
By Laura B (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews

Diana Mills is a small-time model who dreams of getting married and having a family. During a shoot at a rodeo in San Antonio, she meets Lije Masters (Lije is short for Elijah). A very short courtship turns into what could be her dream.
This story is difficult to classify. It is a romance, but not quite in the typical sense. It is more about making the romance work than just getting the happily ever after. The blurb on the back of the book is very misleading and really has nothing at all to do with this book. The publisher did this book a huge mistake with it--I was confused as to what the book was about because of it. I liked this book, but I didn't love it by any means. It was a sweet story, but the characters weren't ones that were easy to connect with. It is written in third person entirely from Diana's point of view. I usually don't like one-sided romances because I really like to know what the other person in the relationship is thinking--I want to get to know both characters. I felt like I never really got to know Lije very much. It is a bit slow, but a very simple read--it only took me a day to finish. I was hoping for something a bit more Christmasy, but this really had very little of a Christmas aspect to it. A bit of a disappointment from what I was expecting, but a cute read nonetheless. Note: This is a tame book with no sex. It has implications and innuendo, but no descriptions.

I thought the description on the back of the book was remarkable. I would have loved to have a cowboy in a stetson come to my door with a Christmas Tree. Imagine falling for that guy and the romance that could happen but unfortunately that is not what the book is about. If I had known what the book was really about I think I would have put it back on the shelf. It was a snoozer.

fine holiday offering,
This review is from: Santa In A Stetson (Paperback)
On a Texas ranch, model Diana Mills and cowboy Elijah "Lije" Masters meet during a shoot there. They are attracted to one another, but seem worlds apart. Yet they fall in love and marry.
The newlyweds go to live on his New Mexico ranch. However, Diana is stunned by the isolation after several years working runways in big city shows. There is no one for miles except Lije and his friend Jim Two Pony who seems to censure the new wife as not belonging here. Although not enchanted by the land, she decides to give her marriage until Christmas to work or else she leaves for the lights. Lije is over the top with rage when he spots Diana with another man; Jim Two Pony intercedes with wisdom. This throwback to a gentler writing style is fun to follow although the path to happiness is straight and narrow. Fans of the author and anyone who relishes a sweet sensuous story starring two likable protagonists and a stereotype Native American sage will want to read Janet Dailey's latest Christmas offering even though there is not a Calder for miles.
