This book deserves to be bought :-),

This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story (Aladdin Picture Books) (Paperback)
Santa goes for a walk in the woods to get in shape for Christmas deliveries. However, he gets tired and ends up falling asleep under a tree. When the forest animals gather 'round him and he tells them he might be too tired to deliver the presents this year, an alarmed fox asks, "Does that mean there won't be a Christmas anymore?" Santa replies, "No, no no...Christmas hasn't got anything to do with me." And he tells them his favorite story -- about the first Christmas, when Jesus the Son of God was born. He concludes, "Love was the gift God gave to us on the first Christmas, and it still is, you know. And this love is far better than any presents I can ever deliver." Re-energized by his remembering of the story, he and the animals return to his house to prepare for Christmas and deliver the presents. This is an equally fun and meaningful story. The illustrations are lovely, too. I plan to make the reading of this book a part of our family's Christmas tradition.

Christmas hasn't got anything to do with Santa!,

This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story (Aladdin Picture Books) (Paperback)
"No, no, no," said Santa in a kindly voice, "Christmas hasn't got anything to do with me. Sit down and I'll tell you all the story of the first Christmas.""Santa's Favorite Story" is an attractively illustrated (with watercolors) picture book for children, which helps to de-emphasize Santa's role in Christmas, and helps to place the focus where it should belong. I'm sure the real Saint Nicholas would agree that it's part of his favorite story as well! (For more on the real St. Nicholas, take a look at "The Saint Nicholas Secret," by Dennis E. Engleman, available here at Amazon.com.)

My favorite children's Christmas story!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story (Hardcover)
I stumbled across this title several years ago and it has become my favorite. When the animals at the North Pole find Santa too tired to make his rounds the animals are afraid there will be not Christmas. But Santa reassures them he is not what Christmas is really about and tells them the reason for the season. Beautiful illustrations too!

Santa's Favorite Story is a wonderful book for families who want to maintain the spiritual emphasis of Christmas but don't want to part with the fun of Santa Claus.

A Surprise! The Christmas Story at Barnes & Noble,
By
This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story: Santa Tells the Story of the First Christmas (Hardcover)
Imagine my surprise when our Barnes and Noble had this one! A Christmas story where Santa says that Christmas is not about Santa, it's about Jesus. I bought it just to encourage B&N to carry more stuff like this, eh?
I liked the illustrations very very well. The Christmas story as told is not true to the Gospel accounts ( In "Santa's Favorite Story," the shepherds follow a star to the stable ...ok. Per the Bible, an angel told the shepherds where to find the Christ child. It was wise men from the east who followed the star. You could look it up!) And it wraps up with the message that Love was the gift God gave us on the first Christmas, and it still is. And that's a far better present than anything Santa delivers.

Wonderfully explains the spiritual meaning of Christmas.,

This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story (Hardcover)
I appreciated this book because it gently explains to children that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and not just about gift giving. In the end, Santa and all of the aniamals have a wonderful Christmas day enjoying each other's company. A real warm fuzzy.

We have had this book in our family for many years...it is read on Christmas Eve right along with "The Night Before Christmas" and St. Luke's Gospel. It truly answers their questions about Santa and the real meaning of Christmas. A true treasure.

The Best Christmas book EVER,

This review is from: Santa's Favorite Story (Library Binding)
As an Early Childhood Educator, I read many books to children and value quality literature. This story is by far the best book to read to children during the holidays. The connection to Jesus is wonderful. It has become the traditional Christmas story at my school and at home. DON'T LET IT EVER GO OUT OF PRINT.

This is a great book that helps keep the meaning of Christmas focused on Jesus, while kids can still experience the tradition of Santa Claus. Basically, Santa explains that Jesus is the real reason for celebrating Christmas.
