Proust fans will be delighted with "Jean Santeuil"..,

It's hard to imagine anyone who has not already read "Rememberance" enjoying this book because it is very much a first draft version, in outlook and in execution. However, if you read and enjoyed "Rememberance" there is every chance you will be delighted with "Jean Santeuil". There are countless delicious turns of phrase and insights which do not appear in the deservedly famous masterwork. Certainly, there are 'monotonous' descriptions to contend with, but if you enjoy the idea of observing a major author honing his skills, you will probably read even these with delight. This early Proust certainly increased my appreciation and understanding of the later work. Highly recommended for those who read all the way to the end of "Rememberance".
