5.0 out of 5 stars i was so excited for this album to come out....
okay first of all i have to say, the academy is... is one of my favorite bands. i was so excited for this album to come out. i even pre-ordered it and everything.

honestly, i have to say it isn't an album you'll fall in love with the first time playing it through. but after playing the album over a couple of times, it just hit me, WOW! TAI hasn't dissappointed...

3.0 out of 5 stars Another good album, but still sounds like all of the others.
I enjoy The Academy Is... in the sense that I enjoy whiney rock every now and then. The have some catchy lyrics and chords, but at the end of the day, I have a lot of trouble telling one song from the other. So, while I do enjoy TAI's music, it does have the pattern of sound repetitious, leaving me only wanting to play it every now and again. But, if you have a drive...

the band's sound has definitely changed from their debut album, which i have to say i prefer, almost here. will's voice is like always amazing but also more unique sounding, and over all the music it self has a different sound. the songs aren't ones to automatically stick but give them a chance, and you'll be singing them for the rest of the week.

like always though, amazing lyrics

my personal favorites songs are:

neighbors

bulls in brooklyn

LAX to o'hare

same blood

we've got a big mess on our hands [i agree, this was a great choice for their first single]

5.0 out of 5 stars Ok So..., April 12, 2007
This review is from: Santi (Audio CD)
I came on here all pissed of at Rolling Stone for giving this album only 2 1/2 stars, which was the same damn rating they gave Weird Al's new album BTW. I was going to rant about how this album is AMAZING and how RS writers are idiots. Then I saw the reviews that were already posted here and realised everyone else already knew how good SANTI is. Thank GOD!

I am so proud of William and the boys. This is a HEARTY album with a great feel that only TAI can offer you. William's voice is orgasm worthy and although the guitars are amazing... the drum beats own this album and put you right over the top. The high hats bring goosebumps. I had to listen to it about four times before I began to feel the groove and the flow of the album...but once i got it...I GOT IT.

You will get it too.

Buy it Damn it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skeptical at first, but an AMAZING album., April 22, 2007
This review is from: Santi (Audio CD)
After reading several reviews of Santi, I was rather skeptical about the quality of the album. I mean Almost Here was such an amazingly good cd that I thought it would be near impossible to top. However after purchasing and listening to the cd about 20 times my mine has been thorougly changed. However it is a much different Academy Is... than in Almost Here. Their sound has evolved from a more poppy sound to a little bit harder and edgier. Overall it is an excellent evolution because Santi is an excellent album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great improvement from last album., April 8, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Santi (Audio CD)
Santi is different from Almost Here, in a good sense. The songs are catchy, melodic, and well-written. William's voice has that slight, smooth melody to it in this album, making it all the better. The guitar work is superb. Unlike Almost Here, which had most songs about getting signed and getting their music out, this album shows that the band is becoming more aware of their skin and what their sound is.

Same Blood - 9/10 Great lyrics, nothing really to point out.

LAX to O'Hare - 10/10 One of the best songs, catchy chorus and clever lyrics.

We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands - 10/10 Good choice as the single. I especially love the second verse.

Sleeping with Giants (Lifetime)- 9/10 Somehow they make singing "You've got to find a way" repeatedly sound absolutely great.

Everything We Had - 8/10 I have yet to really love this song, but William's voice is beautiful in it.

Bulls in Brooklyn - 7.5/10 I feel like I've heard the verses before, the beat's been done before, but the chorus makes up for it.

Neighbors - 10/10 A good song for singing along to, driving around or whatever, almost like a summer night song to me.

Seed - 8/10 Good tune, 'nough said.

Chop Chop - 10/10 My favorite out of all of the songs. It's terribly catchy, and it makes you want to clap along to the chorus. Amazing song.

You Might Have Noticed - 10/10 The lyrics are just flawless, it wouldn't be Santi without this song.

Unexpected Places - 10/10 Perfect ending to a great album, it tops it off nicely. "Is this the way to carry on" is the best and most frequently sung line.

Overall, I love this album very much. One of the more decent albums that I own. I highly suggest you look into it. And yes, I'm a teen without a credit card.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid and fun indie album, January 17, 2008
By
This review is from: Santi (Audio CD)
Santi is straight-up a fun album - and not in the shallow, good-for-only-a-couple-spins way. Much like the Arctic Monkeys, Academy is able to maintain an up-beat, poppy sound without growing monotonous or soft. Hooks are rampant, and the vocals are strong. If only they could come up with a different name...

5.0 out of 5 stars William and the boys did it again, October 22, 2007
This review is from: Santi (Audio CD)
This album is awesome. I mean seriously it's awesome as hell. When i heard a few songs at the Honda civic concert i couldn't believe how great they sounded then i finally got the album and i was amazed. It was just as great if not better than their last. They sound so much better and they're songs are so wonderful. This is definitely the album that any fan of the fueled by ramen label or the academy is... needs to get. Great job guys this one rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Santi equals Love., April 11, 2007
A Kid's Review

Personally, It took me awhile to get used to the new beats, Almost Home was better, and From The Carpet had slower beats but The songs on Santi are still 'whoah'

Same Blood- Good Lyrics, Not a fan of the slow beats.

LAX to O'Hare- Awesome catchy lyrics, catchy beats

We've got a big mess on our hands- Great choice for a single, like the lyrics

Lifetime- Ahh, couldn't have a better song, spectacular lyrics, esp. chorus

Everything we had- Okay, I like the slow beat

Bulls In Brooklyn- Awesome, same type of thing as LAX to O'Hare, great chorus

Neighbors- Okay, good lyrics, easy to keep the beat to

Seed- Boring, good if you don't hear any other songs from the CD first

Chop Chop- I like the beginning, rodeo-y i guess, love the lyrics

You Might Have Noticed- Love Bill's voice in this, okay lyrics, love the beat and chorus

Unexpected Places- Funky bob your head beats, one of the good songs on the CD

when i first got the almost here album, all the songs sounded the same. Then when i played it a few times and got used to the songs, i loved it. It still is one of my favorite cds. Then Santi came out. I got it and listened to it, and yet again, all the songs sounded similar. i then listened to it more often, and now i like it almost as much as their first. please dont let your first opinion judge the album! it rocks!
