Rhythmic Melodies and Sensitive Score, March 4, 2000
This review is from: Santitos: Music from the Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
Milan Records have given us a wonderful and sensitive score from composers Carlo Nicolau and Rosino Serrano. The inter-woven themes and exchanges between Nicolau's violin and Serrano's piano often creates a wistful quality of emotion. The rhythmic melodies are among the most unique and unforgettable ever heard on any film score. Through the spiritual and geographical journey to Esperanza Diaz, the composers used indigenous instruments to each region, thus authenticating the atmosphere of every scene in the film. Consequently, we hear harps, jaranas, accordions and electric guitars which secure a perfect blend. Opening track ESPERANZA and the theme BLANQUITA are stand outs, heard throughout this beautiful score. This CD is enjoyable and a good listen, that never disappoints.
