Very easy to install.
The Saunus mount is awesome because you can access the back of your tv without removing it from the wall each time.
Paul Novotny
Very close to wall, looks like a picture hanging.

I like this mount. I mounted a 63" Samsumg PN63B550 plasma TV with this mount. The TV hangs on the wall and is very sturdy (with my modifications). It's thin and has a good concept. But you need to go to extra lengths to make it work.

The ClickStand feature is a good feature. The mount works by hooking the vertical bars (screwed into the TV) on the top of the crossbar and then having pieces with a spring in it inside the vertical bars that will hook and lock onto the bottom the crossbar. The piece with the spring has a string that hangs down so you can unlock the mount from the bottom of the crossbar. When the piece is unlocked, you can lean the TV bottom away from the wall and put up the hard plastic ClickStands on the bottom hold it there. My TV is heavy (112 lbs w/o stand) so the ClickStands come in handy. The string inside the ClickStand is adjustable (though it is easy to miss) so, by adjusting the string before mounting, it can hang down such that it is accessible even when my big 63" TV is locked in.

The leveling screws can be accessed from underneath when the ClickStands are used and the TV is already mounted. They are a handy feature so you can level the TV exactly right, even when its already mounted. A quarter-turn makes a big difference and can get everything exactly right.

The included wood screws are junk. You can try to use them but, even with pilot holes, they strip and even break easily. (I didn't try to non-wood hardware.) So, go to a hardware store and get something more serious.

The location of the mounting holes is annoying. Notice that there is a collection of holes on the left side and on the right side but not in the middle or at the far left or far right end.

This mounting system really is as low-profile as it gets. Just consider a couple things before purchasing; Most televisions don't account for the cables sticking out once connected. The power, hdmi, and rca's all will stick out approx 3/4 to 1 inch when connected- which means the mount won't secure into place as the cords are jammed against the wall. In my case I did a little demolition work to the dry wall and even had to notch out a stud to get the cables to fit behind the TV. I had already ran a pvc conduit to snake the cables behind the wall and into a cabinet, but it took a decent amount of time to measure out where I cut out drywall to line up with where the cable/component connections would be. If you are planning on having the TV in the same location forever then it shouldnt be an issue- but if it might be moved at some point you should probably stick with a standard mount that allows enough room for the cables behind it. In the end my 50'' plasma looks awesome with this low-pro mount.

Last year I mounted a 46" LCD screen using the cheaper Cheetah mount. It was OK, but for my next project ( mounting a 55" screen) i wanted to try something with a lower profile. The Cheetah offers a mounting surface 1.3" away from the wall, while the Sanus offers a very low .55". As it turned out, the LG 55LA7400 I was dealing with cannot be mounted this close to the wall! Even though the HDMI inputs are parallel to the wall, the bottom part of the TV includes an enclosure (that houses the speakers and the wireless network adapter) that protrudes out more than half an inch. However, the Sanus mounting kit comes with 3 different sizes of spacers and assorted M6 screws. The problem is that to use the shortest spacer, the screws provided are too big. (They provide a quarter inch and 3-quarter inch long M6 screws, but to use the shortest spacer, you need a half-inch long screw. A quick run to the hardware store was necessary to finish the installation).
I like the design of the mount: behind each of the vertical support bars you see in the picture, there is a quick-release mechanism activated by pulling a cord down. Moreover, once you pull on the quick-release cords and pull the TV away from the wall, two plastic stops pop out and let you have the TV rest against the wall giving you access to the back panel to insert/remove cables.
If you end up using the medium spacer, the mounting surface will be more than 1 inch away from the wall, nullifying the low-profile design. Which is what you could have achieved with a mount a third of the price of the Sanus. Such as the Cheetah, which by the way lets you tilt the TV +/- 10 degrees, something that the Sanus by the virtue of its ultra-low profile design cannot.

I bought this mount to hang a 55" Samsung U55D8000 3D TV. It looks AWESOME on the wall. Overall, the mount is a high quality product. The actual mouning process is very straight forward, but you do have to spend some time reading and perusing all the instructions first. Why? Because the actual installation instructions are pictures, virtually absent of any written, step-by-step instructions. Once you go through the pictures in steps and ascertain what is going to need to happen and when, then the process is very straight forward and simple. One warning though: Sanus provides you with a small hardware stores worth of different sizes of screws and spacers etc. The problem for me was that only two sets were the right thread and diameter for my television, but neither were the correct length!! The two sets were either too short, and wouldn't bite into the hole when used with a necessary washer, and the other set were too long and not able to be screwed in all the way because they bottomed out in the receiving holes on the television before being tight! So, after ensuring that I had the time and all I needed to hang my television, I had to stop and go down to the hardware store with both sets of "wrong" screws and find some in between the short ones and the long ones. They are metric and stainless steel. Luckily, I found what I needed, but at that point was pretty aggravated with Sanus for not providing me with the right size screws for my television, even though I had gone to Sanus.com first and used their online tool for determining which mount I needed based on my specific model and brand of television. Overall, despite this aggravating experience, I'm glad I bought this mount.Read more ›
