5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job
I was reluctant to apply my limited do-it-yourself experience to suspending a $1500 TV from a wall. But I got a quick shot of courage by going to Circuit City and Best Buy and being quoted "starting at" $400 and $500 just for installation labor. I bought this mount, worked slowly and patiently, and had the flat-panel on the wall within an hour. It's really quite simple...

1.0 out of 5 stars Vizio 32" plasma beware
This mount does not fit my Vizio 32" Plasma. The base is much to small to fit the mounting bracket slots that are on this TV.

It's really quite simple.

The most important thing is to precisely establish the location of the stud to which you want to attach the mount. I used an electronic stud-finder, and then confirmed the width of the stud by repeatedly hammering a thin nail into the wall. The mount comes with three huge "lag bolts" that need to be screwed into the center of the stud.

All went smoothly except that my light-duty drill couldn't drive the bolts, so I resorted to a socket wrench. After that it was a simple matter to place the part of the bracket that I had attached to the TV onto the wall mount.

I was surprised at the lack of standardization of attachment points on TVs, but the mount should work with most models.

I would suggest the following:
1. Something -- a powerful drill or a socket wrench -- that can drive the lag bolts. The bolt-heads are half-inch.
3. A 3/16th inch drill bit to pre-drill a hole for the lag bolts to enter (if you are attaching to a stud).
2. A long, thin nail and hammer.
3. A level.
4. A stud-finder

Even if your mechanical skills are primitive you should be able to satisfactorily install this mount. Be sure to get someone to help you lift the TV onto the mount. A "professional" installation of $400-$500 is preposterous since an experienced installer should be able to do the job in less than a half-hour.

The manufacturer's instructions are adequate if uninspired. For this kind of job you would hope for super-clear pictures and directions with no room for misunderstanding, but these are not quite up to that level. The manufacturer could put much clearer pictures -- actual photos -- on a web site. But the instructions were not a great impediment to completing the job.

Remember, the major issue is to locate the center of the stud and place the bolts there. And make sure you do a precise job of checking the mount's level. Do those things and you can save a cool $500 dollars to spend on a new receiver.

By the way, I'm glad I spent a bit more for an adjustable tilt mount instead of mounting the TV flush to the wall.

For the price, this unit cannot be touched. I used it to mount a 32" Sharp LC-32GA5U in about one hour, including finding a stud and "fiddling" with a new power drill. Aftwerward, I had a perfectly level LCD mounted to the wall and couldn't be happier with it. The unit is not as close to flush with the wall as I would like, although it leaves just enough room to get your hand behind the TV to move cables without swiveling outward. The swivel function is nice, but you must loosen 2 different bolts to reposition the TV.

Overall, I highly recommend this mount in the sub-100 dollar category. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent moderately priced wall mount, August 1, 2006

Need a wall mount for a Sharp 26" LCD which weighed about 30#. Looked at some discounted retailers such as Walmart and Target to find similar mounts about $75. So ordered this from Amazon.

Mount came with a huge assortment of mounting screws and bolts. Directions where easy to following and mounts the TV securely to the wall.

This was very easy to install and is a great space saver. Very happy with this purchase. Nice that it allows you to be able to remove it and lock it into place. Nice touch with the holes that allow you to place a small lock to keep your TV safe.

VERY STURDY ITEM, YOU MUST HAVE A STUD FINDER, LEVEL AND DRILL IN ORDER TO INSTALL...THE SCREWS ARE SUPPLIED...
THE WALL MOUNT WOULD EASIER AND STRONGER IF THE BACK PLATE REACHED TWO STUDS....THE MOUNT IS ADEQUATE FOR LIGHTER AND SMALLER LCD TVS.

I used it to mount a 27" LCD tv. It worked so well that I bought another one and mounted a 32" LCD in my other bedroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, November 4, 2006
This review is from: Sanus System VM200S TV Wall Mount (Silver) (Electronics)
I'm extremely happy with this mount. It was a snap to install (finding the studs was the worst part). The brackets have tons of holes for various mounting options. Only 4 bolts in the wall and 4 screws in the tv and your ready to go. The tilt works great with minimal effort. My favorite part is the low profile. You'll hardly even know its there.

Great product at a great price. Best Buy offered the same product at double the price. It was easy to install, and is a solid product. Also allows just enough room for cabling connect/disconnects. I love it!

As usual Amazon had the best price and the best service.
The Sanus mount was exactly what I needed to put my 37" Aquos in our bedroom. Very easy to install. A total of about 35 minutes was all it took. To be on the safe side you should have another person help you put your tv on the mount. Depending on the size naturally.
Make sure you spend a few bucks more for the tilting wall mount it makes a world of difference when you are in bed or if there is glare behind you.You will be able to easily adjust the angle for your viewing needs.
