1.0 out of 5 stars Shipping & Handling gives this product a 1 star rating!!! My $0.02 rant
Before I piss & moan about the shipping & handling, let me first say that Sanus makes the best wall mounts on the market.

Now... how can anyone give a positive rating on a product who's packaging was horribly damaged? I had to take pictures becuase my colleagues wouldn't beleive me if I simply told them.

After being completely dissatisfied with the wobbly tabletop stand for my 55" Hitachi 55HDS69 plasma, I began looking for a wall mount. Having bought furniture made by Sanus Systems in the past and being 100% satisfied with it, I opted for this mount. Amazon has the best price by far. This mount is beautiful and extremely heavy duty. Mounting is straight forward and the adjustments are limitless. Moving the plasma (130lbs) is effortless with this mount. The silver model has a glossy finish to it that is impressive for a tv mount. It is also available in black. I can push the plasma completely against the wall if desired - great for parties, etc. Although several screw sizes are included, I found the screws that Hitachi already included made the best fit. You WILL need someone to help you pick up the tv/mount assembly for final installation. Basically you bolt the plate to the wall, install the mount to the tv and hang the mount/tv on the bracket. This mount is heavy (60+lbs) and super sturdy. My wife was even impressed. I would not hesitate to purchase another one. I would definitely go with this larger Sanus mount if you have a TV larger than 50". What more can I say, it's a TV mount that is beautifully constructed. There is an optional center channel speaker bracket you can buy for it also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid and Sturdy, December 9, 2010
This review is from: Sanus VMDD26S Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Electronics)
It's hard to tell from the pictures online whether a set of wall-mounting hardware for a flat-panel TV is really useful. If you're not very handy with a set of tools, it's also hard to tell if you're up to the task if you haven't tried wall-mounting a television before.

The good news is, if you know just a little bit about hardware, and you have someone to help you, you can do this. The Sanus Wall Mount that I purchased is sturdy, it is strong, and even being slow and meticulous I managed to get everything assembled in just over an hour. Once it's up, it is clearly not going anywhere...except when you want it to. Adjusting the position of the television really is as easy as pushing with one finger. It can also be tightened down if you'd rather your flat-panel stay stable. The armature on my model extends 26" out from the wall, and hand-adjustable knobs let me control how easily it tilts left, right, up or down. Pushed all the way flat, it puts the TV about 2 or 3 inches away from the wall and that's a gap I can easily live with.

The bad news is, the instructions are pretty terrible. Think of do-it-yourself office furniture manuals and then imagine it being a bit worse. This is why I took my time: at every step I stopped to make sure in my head that I'd properly understood the step and I'd properly executed it. I'll put details in the "Comments" section below. In the meantime, here's your best course of action:

1) Read the manual for your TV. There should be a section in there about wall-mounting, and if your TV is "VESA Compliant" it'll even have some numbers you can use to look up which model of wall mount you need. For example, my Samsung PN58A550 has "600, 600, 400, 400". These are the distances (in mm) between the four mount points on the back of the TV: from left to right, the bolt holes are 600mm apart and from top row to bottom row they are 400mm apart. They give you four numbers because it's always possible the bottom row are a different distance apart from each other than the top row.

2) Make a note of the size and weight of your TV. This doesn't have to be exact: "it's a 58-inch TV and it weighs about 70 pounds" was enough for me

3) Stop by the wall-mount maker's web site. I found the Sanus site to be fairly useful and I could easily find exactly which model number was perfect for me.

4) Check the packaging for your TV: some flat-panel TVs come with plastic spacers to use instead of the Sanus-supplied ones.

One note: some complaints have been posted here about the Sanus carriage bolts and lag bolts. Both of these sets of bolts are easy to replace with steel if you feel the need--your local hardware store should have them and they are cheap. However, the instructions explicitly tell you that these bolts are not designed to be torqued into place. They need to be hand-tightened, but the physics of the rigging is such that if you wrench them down super-tight, you place all the stress of the hardware on the head of the bolt and not on the body where it belongs. Loose, they hold your hardware like a picture on a hook. Over-tight, they hold your hardware like a crowbar under a nail.

I really enjoy this mounting solution. It was easy to get the backplate into the studs and as much as hanging my biggest investment on the wall makes me nervous, I can see it's not going anywhere now that I've got it on. As an added bonus, if I'd needed to thread cables from the TV, the Sanus will let me put plastic pegs in the frame to hold the cables snug and keep them free for the moving parts. This device has been an excellent solution for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mount after you have all the parts, April 20, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sanus VMDD26S Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Electronics)
I have to say purchasing the mount from amazon saved me a lot of money. HOWEVER, we were missing a lot of the parts. Sanus had to first ship the long bars and then eventually missing screws. We were pretty upset about it. Maybe if you get free shipping, you get what you paid for. The good part is that Sanus didn't have any issues with shipping missing pieces. It makes me wonder if it's a common thing to have missing parts.

The mount itself is awesome. Mount is currently holding the 52XBR5. It can sit flush to the wall or you can extend it quite a bit. You can tilt, and extend easily with one finger. I'm amazed at the engineering. It did not stick out.

Pro: Amazon price is 50% cheaper than going to a store.
Great Mount.
Easy to move mount.

Con: Possibly missing parts.

If you are patient and lucky(no missing pieces), this is a great mount. I'm giving it 5 stars because it does what it's suppose to and does it well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Sanus VMDD26S Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Electronics)
I purchased this wall mount for a 50" plasma TV. The installation instructions were clear and the process was straight forward. The unit itself is heavy but it easily supports the weight of my TV. The TV can simply be pulled forward, tilted, or turned while mounted without making any adjustments. Clips were provided to attach cables to the arms.

When I came home, all of the small parts were lying outside and around the box, with the main bracket lying flat on the ground. One can only assume that when UPS dropped it (or threw it) on my porch, they most likely drove off with the missing parts from the wall mount. Honestly, I don't know if the box was damaged by UPS or Amazon, but I've read other's posts that it is Amazon who is careless.
