5.0 out of 5 stars IMHO the ONLY cell fon for kids
My son has this fon and really likes it. It has all the things he wanted: camera, web, txting. But I like it because kajeet is the ONLY cell provider that really offers parental controls. The kajeet website makes it a snap to give him funds for his usage but I know that when he wants to call me, it can come from my wallet. This makes owning a fon so easy for him and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer BEWARE!
The phone itself is small, lightweight and stylish, if you like the cute pink color. It is made by Sanyo and is VERY easy to use and is nice overall.

*HOWEVER* the Kajeet phone service plan is WROUGHT with hidden charges. Here is a small sampling of what they will charge you: $.32 cents per day access fee (adding up to almost $10/per month) and this fee is...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer BEWARE!, August 6, 2009
This review is from: Sanyo Katana II Prepaid Phone, Pink (Kajeet) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The phone itself is small, lightweight and stylish, if you like the cute pink color. It is made by Sanyo and is VERY easy to use and is nice overall.

*HOWEVER* the Kajeet phone service plan is WROUGHT with hidden charges. Here is a small sampling of what they will charge you: $.32 cents per day access fee (adding up to almost $10/per month) and this fee is always charged everyday, even if you don't use your phone all that day. Next, when you buy time, they charge you 5% EXTRA in fees, simply for adding time to your account! The 5% for adding time was NEVER mentioned before I purchased this phone and is only revealed when you actually set up your account and are trying to buy some time. These are just the fees that I know of SO FAR.

Also, I have experienced nothing but trouble and wasted time when trying to activate the phone online. After spending a half hour typing in various personal information and creating two separate logins and giving my credit card information, in the end, after all that time (and right when I thought I was done and ready to get my phone number and have my activation take place), I got an error message. Trying to go back and see what is wrong erases ALL of your information so that you essentially have to start over. After finally giving up on the online method, I called Kajeet customer service and was on the phone for another 20+ minutes, basically REPEATING all the info. I had just tried to complete twice online. After all of this, the agent says that the DEC id number of the phone is causing trouble and he has to create a "Trouble Ticket" for an engineer to look at the phone. He tells me that will take 24-48 hours to figure out. Note: This phone was purchased BRAND NEW from Amazon.com So, the bottom line is that if you do not mind paying lots of fees (and even hidden fees) to this company, as well as putting up with wasting an enormous amount of time trying to activate it, then this can be your phone! Buyer beware!

The kajeet website makes it a snap to give him funds for his usage but I know that when he wants to call me, it can come from my wallet. This makes owning a fon so easy for him and me. The schedule blocking I can do that works for txts and data as well as calls, the phone number blocking (txts and calls), the record of transactions (all calls and txts), and the GPS locator service are all great for keeping this a controlled device to eliminate surprises and to allow him to learn responsibility. THANK YOU KAJEET! Jane.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter absolutely loves it!! And its safe!!, November 15, 2008
This review is from: Sanyo Katana II Prepaid Phone, Pink (Kajeet) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
My daughter is 9 years old and just loves her pink Katana. It goes with her everywhere she goes so I can stay in contact with her and vice versa. The parental controls are superb. No more suprise bills, and the safety features are fantastic. The GPS is a great added benefit for both of us.
She was so upset when she couldn't find it one day, but the GPS took care of that! It was at her dance studio! Thanks kajeet!

5.0 out of 5 stars HAD SERVICE OVER A YEAR NOW, April 15, 2010
By
Kaii (Kansas City, MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sanyo Katana II Prepaid Phone, Pink (Kajeet) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
My daughter is 13 and has had Kajeet service for over a year now.
I am writing this in regards to the post about hidden fees.

The contract and reading material on Kajeet's website does mention the .32 a day charge IF you aren't signed up with a PAK. I am signed up with a PAK and have no extra fees (21.95 a month) My daughter LOVES her Rumor phone & I can monitor or shut the phone down whenever I see fit. Just wonderful.

I have had a few customer service issues. But, nothing major that wasn't worked out. I also wish Kajeet would get a better selection of phones. Kids want the latest & greatest....no touch screen. Come on Kajeet.

4.0 out of 5 stars great kids phone, December 27, 2008
This review is from: Sanyo Katana II Prepaid Phone, Pink (Kajeet) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a great phone for kids. It has good parental controls. A great phone for kids that barely use it to kids that are frequent talkers or texters. Not just for kids either. Has everything those monthly phones have. Also great camera.
