5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, durable, too!, May 18, 2004

This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I have owned 4 Samsung "flip" phones, and all of them have felt flimsy and broke after 11 - 20 months. I got tired of replacing them and tired of the poor battery life. This Sanyo RL2000 is terrific! It's a little bigger than an opened flip phone, but it doesn't weigh more more. However, the battery life is AMAZING! I only charge it every 3 days or so. Sanyo rates the talk time at around 4.5 hours, and I believe it. The battery lasts at least 2x as long as any of the Samsung phones I've had. Also, the reception is very good. I often get 4 bars of signal strength (whereas my previous phones had 1 or 2 in the same locations). Dropped calls are VERY infrequent. Also, all of the menus (including for the Internet) are logically layed out and easy to navigate. Speakerphone works well. It's a bit buzzy, but not bad and it's loud enough. The last positive is that the charging cord has a lock so that it won't slip out in the car (unlike some other brands/models). The only negative comments are that the ringers included with the phone are not great. I downloaded some new ones. Also, the ringer is loud, but could be a bit louder. Overall, I'm very pleased with phone. I can't see going back to a flimsy flip phone with a weak battery. For me, a durable phone w/ good battery life (and the push-to-talk feature) is more important than a flip phone w/ a built-in (albeit weak) digital camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone, Great Volume, Not Simple, but east to learn, February 14, 2004

This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I got two of these phones at Christmas, one for me and one for my parents. They are great phones. They seem to really have the ability to pull a signal in and they seem pretty durable. I love the speaker phone feature and the fact that I can actually hear the person on the other end of the call. I thought it would be a little simpler to operate, and it isn't, but it isn't all that hard to learn how to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone! Sanyo Does it again!, August 22, 2004
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
This phone is not a 5 star phone, as most Sanyo phones are. But it is still a great phone. I don't own this particular model yet, but it will be next in my collection! This phone has so many positives that the minor drawbacks are insignificant by comparison.

For starters the new Link feature allows you to have direct communications, just like Nextel users have enjoyed for so long. The speakerphone made popular on the SCP 4900 is also included here, allowing easy hands-free. The screen is VERY high quality, allowing you to fully enjoy the wireless web. And, the signal strenth is great due to the superior antenna technology that Sanyo uses.

This phone is, however, rather sizable compared to newer cell phones. It's not equipped with a camera or any of those other features people have grown accustomed to. As a phone however, it's great. I will definitely forgo the convenience of a camera phone for the performance that this phone provides.

I highly recommend this phone for those who talk a lot and need a reliable phone with a strong signal. Some of the flip models are better for those who want a phone with a camera.
