5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, durable, too!
I have owned 4 Samsung "flip" phones, and all of them have felt flimsy and broke after 11 - 20 months. I got tired of replacing them and tired of the poor battery life. This Sanyo RL2000 is terrific! It's a little bigger than an opened flip phone, but it doesn't weigh more more. However, the battery life is AMAZING! I only charge it every 3 days or so. Sanyo...

Sanyo rates the talk time at around 4.5 hours, and I believe it. The battery lasts at least 2x as long as any of the Samsung phones I've had. Also, the reception is very good. I often get 4 bars of signal strength (whereas my previous phones had 1 or 2 in the same locations). Dropped calls are VERY infrequent. Also, all of the menus (including for the Internet) are logically layed out and easy to navigate. Speakerphone works well. It's a bit buzzy, but not bad and it's loud enough. The last positive is that the charging cord has a lock so that it won't slip out in the car (unlike some other brands/models). The only negative comments are that the ringers included with the phone are not great. I downloaded some new ones. Also, the ringer is loud, but could be a bit louder. Overall, I'm very pleased with phone. I can't see going back to a flimsy flip phone with a weak battery. For me, a durable phone w/ good battery life (and the push-to-talk feature) is more important than a flip phone w/ a built-in (albeit weak) digital camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone, Great Volume, Not Simple, but east to learn, February 14, 2004

This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I got two of these phones at Christmas, one for me and one for my parents. They are great phones. They seem to really have the ability to pull a signal in and they seem pretty durable. I love the speaker phone feature and the fact that I can actually hear the person on the other end of the call. I thought it would be a little simpler to operate, and it isn't, but it isn't all that hard to learn how to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone! Sanyo Does it again!, August 22, 2004
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
This phone is not a 5 star phone, as most Sanyo phones are. But it is still a great phone. I don't own this particular model yet, but it will be next in my collection! This phone has so many positives that the minor drawbacks are insignificant by comparison.

For starters the new Link feature allows you to have direct communications, just like Nextel users have enjoyed for so long. The speakerphone made popular on the SCP 4900 is also included here, allowing easy hands-free. The screen is VERY high quality, allowing you to fully enjoy the wireless web. And, the signal strenth is great due to the superior antenna technology that Sanyo uses.

This phone is, however, rather sizable compared to newer cell phones. It's not equipped with a camera or any of those other features people have grown accustomed to. As a phone however, it's great. I will definitely forgo the convenience of a camera phone for the performance that this phone provides.

I highly recommend this phone for those who talk a lot and need a reliable phone with a strong signal. Some of the flip models are better for those who want a phone with a camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars RL2000, July 10, 2004
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I love this phone. I would not reade it for anything. Even though Sprint has discontinued them (I think this is a BIG mistake) everyone I know that has them would not go to anything else. I have dropped mine numberous times (I work outside and I am hard on phones) and it is durable and built to take it. No other phone I have had has stood up to the durability, quality or features I have gotten out of this one. The only thing it lacks is a cam and a PDA. But I would rather have this over any others even with those for this price.

This phone is truely amazing, however had the stars been in any way related to Sprint, I would have to give them two stars. I have owned this phone for 2 years and have dropped about five calls out of thousands. I have service well beyond when the avaerage Samsung(never buy Samsung phones!!!)has run dead while searching for a signal while right next to a cell phone tower! The only drawback is the size, and to me it is actually benificial because I have had the phone for two years and have never lost it or had any problems whatsoever. As for Sprint...Thery are great as long as your contact with customer service is limited...very limited! I had a rep hang up on me today after being lied to yestarday from another rep. There customer service department has caused me soo many problems throughout the years, but their phone service is great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big, July 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I just got this cell phone about four days ago. It's really, really big. My last phone was not a flip phone but it was pretty small. This one does not fit in my pocket very comfortably. I guess I'll get the clip. I can verify, however, the signal strenght seems excellent. I thought my last phone was great because it would get a signal at places where my wife's flip phone (sprint also) would go to roam. This one seems even better. Signal strength is very important to me so I may keep the phone even though I don't like the size. Ringers aren't important to me but I will say I think they purposely put horrible ringers on there so you will pay to download some. The speakerphone seems to work great. Also, it may end up being durable but the plastic on it, including the buttons, feels cheap to me. We shall see. The readylink works great but my wife hates it because it makes it harder to ignore me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Durable long lasting, April 15, 2005
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I'm surprised no one has talked about how long the battery lasts. its about 3 or 4 times longer than any other cellphone I've owned. I've dropped my phone numerious times and I've never had a problem with it. Signal strenght is great. If I can figure out a way to get it to sync with my Linux Computer I would love this phone. (I've had it about a year now).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone, April 13, 2011
This review is from: Sanyo RL2000 PCS Vision Ready Link Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I know this review is irrelevant, since these phones have not been produced for years, but I want to say what a great phone this is. Mine turned 7 last month, and I still use it. I am sad to report that it is about to be retired since my new job provides an iPhone. However, this is by far the most durable phone I have ever had. It has been dropped off of roofs, burned by welding sparks and dropped on concrete numerous times. It has never failed to turn right back on when the battery was reattached. It almost never drops calls, and the 7 year old battery only needs to be charged every other day. This is a great phone, and I want to give Sanyo credit for it.

this phone is wonderful. i've dropped it countless times and it has one scratch on it. to the gentleman that gave this a one star because his father couldnt figure out how to use it, all i have to say is that its quite evident that technological prowess does not run in your family. i would think that making a post here on amazon would be straightforward but it seems that you were not able to figure out how to use this either.
