Great Phone for the money!,
By
This review is from: Sanyo SCP-3100 Silver (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I've had The Sanyo SCP-3100 in "Always Pink" a little over a month.I wasn't looking for all the "bells & Whistles" that most cellphones seem to be featuring, I also didn't want to spend money for features i'm probably will never use. This is my second sanyo (my last one lasted 8yrs.) so i knew i wanted another sanyo. It has a Camera,(VGA)~Text,Readylink,(which i havent used. I may upgrade to it later.) Great speaker Phone, easy to use. signal could be better, but hey, I got the phone through sprint's upgrade program, I paid $49.99. I gave it 4 stars mainly because they advertise the phone with having a built-in flash, but, it doesn't. It does however take good pics in the Nite/Dark Picture Mode. I highly recommend Sanyo, Sprint PCS phones. I forgot to mention the phone has good font sizes. I tried other flip phones, which were too small to read for my astigmatism

Very good basic phone,

Pretty much agree with the other guys on this one, a good basic phone. Very clear voice clarity on both ends, and very easy to use. The interface is responsive and the phone has never ever crashed on me. Reception seems pretty nice and strong in Sprint digital areas. I turn off roaming, easy to do that. The VGA camera is not very good. Indoors the white balance tends to get wrong, and outdoors image quality is less than good. But given Sprint charges an arm and a leg for picture mail and uploads, I don't use the camera feature except to take pictures of my friends to use as photo caller ID on the phone.

Good solid phone,

I have 3 sanyo 3100 phones with sprint. I have silver for me, brown for my son and pink for my daughter. The phones are sold, easy to use and have decent reception. The phones hold up well for the teenagers constant use. We love the phones so far. Service from Sprint is not so good, but the plan and phone are great for families.

Love It!,
This review is from: Sanyo SCP-3100 Silver (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I have only had my Sanyo 3100 for a couple of weeks, but I just love it. It is a good phone and is easy to use.I have the pink phone. I didn't care about all the extras, but when I tried them out, I was hooked. My experience with Sprint has been very good. I have been with them for 6 years, and am very satisfied. I hightly reccommed this phone and Sprint Service.

Solid Sprint phone,

The Sanyo 3100 is now Sprint's entry-level PCS phone, but it's quite loaded with features, from a built-in digital camera with zoom to high-quality speakerphone to walkie-talkie capability (subscription required) to voice recorder. I believe all Sanyo phones have GPS built-in but cannot confirm this on the 3100 yet.The best thing about the Sanyo 3100, like with other Sanyo cell phones, is it's really high quality, from the overall build to voice clarity. The one negative reviewer's experience must have been the exception (if not a made up story). Sanyo has won the JD Power best cell phone reward for several years now and as a Sanyo PCS phone buyer (for myself and for others) since 2001, I can attest to the durability of their phones. If you have Sprint, you should get a Sanyo, period. (Unless you want to upgrade every year anyway in which case a Moto RAZR or the new KRZR is good, too. But they won't last as long as a Sanyo.) I've never had any reception problems with my Sanyos including this one. It always gives me good reception everywhere there's Sprint. BTW, turning on roaming will marginally increase the reception quality, but depleting battery juice faster. The phone's main LCD screen is 1.8" diagonal and good quality. The secondary LCD is mono and larger than in previous entry-level models. You also get an easy-to-use phone book (better than most other brands) as well as a simple calendar plus other tools. You can download the thousands of J2ME games and applications to this phone if you are willing to pay. Finally, you can use this as a modem for your laptop on the road if you're so inclined. But it does not support EV-DO like my new Sanyo M1 which means you'll be limited to 2.5G speed. At 3.3 oz. with battery, the 3100 is really lightweight. It's not super-thin, but its thickness actually makes it easy to hold, and the keypad is great. I think this is the best entry-level phone for any carrier -- especially for Sprint.

This is pretty much a no-thrills phone, but it does have a color screen, JAVA-based games, built-in GPS (yes! you can use Sprint's navigation software), a VGA camera with flash (but no video function), and really good reception capability and voice quality. The camera is not that good when shooting indoors, but I don't realy care. The phone itself is fairly okay-looking, and it's really lightweight, something like 3 oz. with battery. Battery life is excellent, and the phone is a piece of cake to use. I like the big font on the external B&W screen on the cover. Great flip phone. And it's really inexpensive.

AWESOME PHONE!,
This review is from: Sanyo SCP-3100 Silver (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I have the pink sanyo 3100 and I absolutely love it!!!! I receive great signals, sound quality, and plus it's so cute. I love Sprints monthly plans. It's perfect for me because my husband and his family have Nextel phones, and with Sprint, I have unlimited mobile to mobile with Nextel for $5 a month. I refuse to pay for Nextel's monthly rates like them. The picture quality isn't the greatest, but I don't really use it for that. As far as T-Mobile being a great company like the first girl said, it is NOT a great company. Eveyone I talk to says that T-Mobile is aweful. I used to have T-mobile and they never had towers to give me reception when I traveled!!!!!! So, if you're looking for a cute phone with great sound quality and good reception, with a great company, this is it!!!!!

this phone is driving me nuts,

Overall- this phone is ok. The voice quality is clear enough, the screen is decent for me, I like the ringtones. I don't need fancy, so it's good enough. I don't know if others have had this problem, but the one thing that I hate about this phone is that it redials in my pocket even with the phone closed and the keyguard on! As far as I can tell, the keyguard only protects the side buttons since the "flip" should protect the inner ones. If I'm driving or have to do something that compresses the phone a bit in my pocket, the speaker button gets pressed though it is an inner button, and if that happens twice it not only redials but turns on the speaker which broadcasts the call to everyone in listening range. I can't find any way to stop this except to use some kind of bulky holster. If I had known about this, I wouldn't have bought this phone.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE- I RATE LESS THAN ZERO STARS!!,

I am writing this to help potential buyers not make the same mistake I did. I am usually okay with Sprint, but Sanyo is the least satisfying of their products. I was at the Sprint store and felt pressured to pick a phone, the salesman reassured me that Sayno is great. I would have been better off buying the Brookline Bridge. I should have known not to get a Sanyo, my sister had the SCP 200, and it would not work AT ALL!! She would need to take the battery out, warm it in her hand, and then flip it in. Try repeating that process 5 times to turn on the phone. Now my phone the Sanyo 3100, after 30 days stopped working. It stopped the call history and id, which is a major part of the phone. Then I replaced it. Except after I recieved the reconditioned phone, I got the same messages as my sister would on the SCP 200. I would turn it on and it would say "Service Required Please Call" then the number. But the darn thing would not even let me make a call. Getting a Sanyo is the biggest regret I have.I am now out $29.95, because I did not get insurance. But I also must stick with a HORRIBLE phone for 2 years!!! I advise EVERYONE DO NOT BE FOOLED! SANYOS ARE NOT GOOD PHONES!! Whenever I am at the Sprint store and they say, well thats the best phone, I laugh and say "FAT CHANCE!!!"

Do not buy this phone!,
This review is from: Sanyo SCP-3100 Silver (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I had this phone for less than 4 months. I didn't use it often, a couple of times a week, so it hardly ever left my purse. In less than 4 months it quit working, so I sent it in for service. I was told the internal wires were corroded by "liquid damage" most likely caused by condensation. When I called customer service I was told that temperature changes (i.e., going in and out of the house or using the phone outside)were the most likely cause of the condensation. Yet since it wasn't a manufacturer's defect, they refused to replace the phone. This phone cannot hold up to everyday use! I will NEVER buy another Sanyo cell phone!
