4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, but has some flaws
I bought this fridge because I needed one small enough to fit in my dorm room, but still hold a gallon of milk or a six pack of soda, if necessary. Size-wise, I'm very pleased with the product; it'll fit in tight spaces and still holds everything I need (the freezer can hold a container of Ben & Jerry's, which is always nice). 1.0 out of 5 stars What do you use a dorm fidge for...
You use it for BEER! This is a horrible fridge for bottles of beer. You have to remove the one and only shelf to stand them up and then you can only fit a six pack in with two on their sides in the door. The next size up fits more than a case and is only (usually) $50-100 more and well worth it.

It has a removable shelf, so you can even fit large items if you're willing to sacrifice some space.

My only complaint with the fridge is its temperature regulation. Items I put in the refrigerator part get partially frozen, and items in the freezer part start melting almost immediately (you have to eat the Ben & Jerry's all in one go!). If you plan on having a lot of frozen food in your room or hate it when your milk's a little frosty, this fridge may not be for you, but otherwise the price and compact size make it a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Frige!, June 17, 2000

This was a wonderful refrigerator, just what I needed for my dorm room. It's small enough to fit at the bottom of a closet, but on the inside you can fit all you need! I say buy this Frige, but if you want something for a house to fit food for a whole family, get something a little larger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parent's Dream, June 13, 2000

The perfect answer for the college bound student (and their parents). Sick of paying $15/month for those broken down clunkers they truck in on the first day of school? We found the perfect answer. Order direct from Amazon and have it shipped to the school. Efficient, quiet, and even if you leave one behind each year, it's a break even proposition, AND one less chance to break Mom or Dad's back on moving day!

Not much to say about this unit... The temperature inside can get VERY cold if you want, or just cool if you want, either way it does the job you asked for. The freezer also works well, makes ice in a flash on the medium temp setting.

Inside, its perfect for holding sodas or beer or what not and holds more than you would think. This unit is not the best for bottled beers though, you have to take out the only rack inside which holds the drip tray.

All in all, this is a great compact refrigerator.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better... But still, not bad., July 26, 2011
This review is from: Sanyo SR-172W Compact Refrigerator (Kitchen)
In terms of quietness of operation, and overall performance, this isn't too-bad of a Mini-Fridge. It can be right at the foot of your bed and you wouldn't know it's running unless you hear the compressor-relay "click", which itself is barely audible.

But, in terms of space & efficiency, improvements could be made. Although you could easily fit a 12-pack sideways on the lower-level, or a pair of 2-liter bottles side-by-side inside it [with the shelf removed], anything placed close to the U-shaped evaporator [without actually being placed inside it] will be chilled more than anything placed further away. In my opinion, Sanyo should have designed & located this model's evaporator better (Flat & mounted well-above... In the ceiling of it perhaps?) to achieve even cooling & make more room inside... Like maybe so a wider, perhaps even adjustable shelf could be mounted that would allow maybe four 2-liter bottles to be laid on it pointing forward, while a full six-pack of long-necks could stand upright below it.

Aside from that second part, I'm glad I found this fridge... It has been a good little unit. It certainly does a good job of chilling my soda, even when the thermostat is set to just above medium. Not-bad, Sanyo... But it needs improvement.

Not a bad refrig. Overall not a bad product, just a little pricy for this product. I would recommend it for the size and convenience.

although my rating for this product was only three stars, i was overwhelmed by the design of this product, it was just so captivating in sight and everything about this "dream" refrigerator is just simple remarkable and high tech, so ladies and gentlemen, my final last words for this is... INCREDIBLE.
