I got this refrigerator and thought I might have received an unusually loud unit, so I returned it and got a unit that was possibly louder.

This is a good looking refrigerator and anyone oblivious to noise will like it. If you're sensitive to noise, though, the high-pitched whine of the compressor will be a huge issue.

I've had a Sanyo refrigerator (of the same size, earlier model) before, and it was quiet... so my noise expectations aren't unusually high. This thing just wasn't built with quiet in mind.

This is a great small refrigerator. The platinum and black finish add a touch of class. I am currently using this refrigerator as an accessory to a wet bar that I just installed. It fits perfect and keeps the beverages and other items very cold. It is also very quiet which is a plus. The only downfall is the spacing of the racks. It was very difficult to stack anything vertically. However, the door rack and can rack made up for it. For the price, this is a great, classy, little refrigerator.

I compared this one with many other compact refrigerators before purchasing. I think it is the best one in its size and price range. Others did not have the small but efficient freezer compartment nor the variable temperature control which I set at around the halfway mark which seems to be the perfect setting. The max setting comes close to freezing things on the top shelf. I have it under my desk in my private office. Our building has vending machines with mostly junk food and sodas. Now I have healthy carrot sticks, yogurt and fruit juices anytime I feel like having a small snack as well as a place to store my lunch. The freezer compartment holds an ice tray and is large enough for an additional one or two ice cream cups or other small frozen items. The only negative point is the noise when the compressor comes on. Being a compact refrigerator, it does turn off and on more often than the larger ones. I may be more sensitive to it because I am in a very quiet office. Overall I am very satisfied with this refrigerator.

The reviews are exactly as it is. If you are noise sensitive there are models that are better out there. This has a nice look but makes a high pitch noise. Other small fridges have a lower noise level. Beware if noise is a concern. Its not so loud as it is a high pitch.

This one is terrific. I bought it for my basement office so I don't need to run upstairs whenever I need a sip of something. It looks really nice with the stainless steel front. It holds more than any mini-fridge I've ever owned. The can holder is great. If you need to stand up big bottles there is the door which will hold about two, or you can just remove the bottom shelf and then you're all set. A 12pk of bottles fits in here easily as well as 2-liter soda bottles with a shelf still above everything for your little whatevers. It keeps things really cold on a medium setting.

Now about the noise, as I noticed that many other have commented about it, but some of the reviews are old. I don't notice it one bit. Granted, I have a dehumidifier and an air purifier down here but even so, it's not even remotely distracting. I'm not sure if they changed the manufacturing process since earlier reviews but the sound is totally insignificant. Yes it makes a sound because it's a compressor but I seriously don't notice it. Mine is made in Mexico, so I feel a little better about it than if it were made in China.

I'm a Prime member so this came next day for $3.99...I couldn't imagine where you could get a 44lb anything shipped for such a low price in one day. Amazon rocks and so does this fridge.

This 2.5 cubic-foot refridgerator holds a lot, we keep it in our basement for condmients and beer because we are kinda lazy!

Very nice product. Some people complainted about the amount of noise it makes, i really didn't notice that much noise.Maybe i got used to it really quickly or something buuut its really not bothersome.
Fridge looks great and can be set VERY cold to possibly be used as a freezer (not sure tho, havnt tried yet). Only complaint is that standard beer bottles dont fit vertically, you have the lie them on their side. but thats really not a big deal.

The refrigerator is great and was delivered within 3 days. It keeps beverages very cold. However, it was delivered with a dent in every surface. Lucklily, it was going under a bar and they were hidden. The return process didn't seem too easy.

Have had this refrigerator for about 1-1/2 years. Bought this for my wife's office. She loves it and this is the perfect size. Freezer compartment is a little small but I believe that's the size for these compact refrigerators.

I bought a slightly bigger Sanyo compact refrigerator from Amazon back in 2005, and it is working just as well as (cool) day #1. It is installed in my bedroom, originally to store breastmilk for my new born child. It is very quiet and not very audible when it is cylced on (which might happen once every 1-2 hours). My shipping experience is similar to many reviewers here. There was a noticeable/permanent dent on the stainless stain door when it arrived, nothing else was damaged. However as always, Amazon came through with a very reasonable credit for the "damage". Other than the dent, this refrigerator has been operating flawlessly for over 5 straight years. The only complaint I have with this refrigerator is the hassle of removing all contents to perform manual defrost, but even then I only had to perform this once a year. My slightly bigger Sanyo compact refrigerator shares the same refrigeration components, it just comes with a bigger cabinet (3.7 cu.in. instead of 2.5). If it breaks, it will be because of the compressor or other important electric-mechanics components (which are the same) and not because it just happened to be larger in size, but so far it has been rock-solid. I would highly recommended this for anybody who is looking for a compact, stylish, yet reliable refrigerator.
