5.0 out of 5 stars Replaced by big fridge
I live in a small cottage, and my full-size refrigerator bit the dust. Since I already have a small chest freezer, I decided that it was time to downsize my refrigerator. Almost everything that fit in the refrigerator compartment of my full-size fridge fit in this little thing--in a lot less space! 4.0 out of 5 stars Sanyo SR-4912M Kegerator, March 31, 2009
This review is from: Sanyo SR-4912M Energy Star 4-8/9-Cubic-Foot Counter-High Refrigerator with Platinum Door (Kitchen)
I bought this fridge from Best Buy for $179 onsale. I drilled a hole down
the top center and mounted a two tap tower. I removed the door shelves and
replaced it with plexi-glass. I can now fit two 5 gallon cornelius kegs
and a 5lb CO2 tank in the fridge. Works great and runs quietly.

1.0 out of 5 stars a piece of junk, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Sanyo SR-4912M Energy Star 4-8/9-Cubic-Foot Counter-High Refrigerator with Platinum Door (Kitchen)
I originally purchased the Sanyo SR-4912M refrigerator in November 2007. Ice collected on the back of the refrigerator and ALL my food froze. Since there is no authorized repair company in my area, Sanyo replaced it with a new refrigerator which worked fairly well for about 7 months. I bought a digital thermometer with an inside probe so that I could obtain a more accurate reading (I checked the accuracy of the thermometer with other thermometers and refrigerators). The temperature fluctuates from the 20's F. to the 50's F. and freezes my food. The highest safe temperature for a refrigerator is 40 F. The Sanyo rep at 800-421-5013 said that it is in the 50's when it is defrosting. I challenge that the auto defrost cycle should take 4-6-8 hours--if this is how the Sanyo refrigerator functions, then they are putting food in the danger zone for bacteria to grow and cause food poisoning. I was informed that the warranty on the original refrigerator has expired and, therefore, this replacement refrigerator has no warranty coverage, except for the compressor. The Sanyo rep could not understand why I am upset. Since I now have had two (2) Sanyo SR-4912M refrigerators, and neither of them has functioned adequately, I think this speaks volumes to the lack of quality and DANGER TO HEALTH of this refrigerator. Obviously, I do NOT RECOMMEND this refrigerator. If possible, I would give it NO stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best compact refrigerator I've seen, February 26, 2008
By
and I've seen a bunch of them.
I just bought this fridge at Best Buy ($209.00 plus tax) and I love it.
I purchased it to replace two Magic Chefs that never worked. This fridge is super quiet and it is very rooomy. The door is made to hold a gallon container, but I can put two half gallons of milk and two quart size containers in only ONE bottom door shelf. So that still leaves the shelves in the fridge and the other two small shelves in the door to put stuff.
It got cold really fast too.
I am so happy with this purchase!

1.0 out of 5 stars Confused appliance, December 24, 2008

This appliance is confused. The problem is it can't make up its mind whether it wants to be a refrigerator or a freezer! This refrigerator, when it works, does not maintain temperature well. After trying to adjust the temperature numerous times it either freezes or barely keeps its contents cold. After less than two years the thing barely cools at all, even when set for the minimum temperature.

3.0 out of 5 stars The weakest link with this refrig is the thermostat., December 27, 2011

This Sanyo Refrigerator is the same as the Kenmore Elite Model# 564.95499400 They both use the same thermostat. The thermostat will likely be the first thing to go though it may last a week or years but the results are the same. Not keeping the temprature setting within normal range. This means that the unit will either freeze or thaw but nothing in between. Once this happens it is necessary to replace the thermostat. This is an easy repair if you are somewhat handy. It takes around 10 minutes. You will need the replacement t-stat which has various part numbers. The Sanyo part number is: 8334233950700 The Sears part number is 302899 The manufacturer,Saginomiya number is a DTB-U102 This is an OEM part so contacting the manufacturer is a waste of time. I found the unit in the 10.00-to 40.00 on line from various sources.
I would not throw this refrigerator in the trash. It can hold more food compared to the others in this size range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice refrigerator, June 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sanyo SR-4912M Energy Star 4-8/9-Cubic-Foot Counter-High Refrigerator with Platinum Door (Kitchen)
We purchased two of these refrigerators. One arrived damaged, but Amazon was quick to replace it with no hastles. Both of the units that we have now work very nicely and keep items very cold. We love the fact that we do not lose refrigerator space with unwanted freezer space. The black interior is an exceptional bonus, and the large c.f. is wonderful. We highly recommend this Sanyo model, and we would purchase again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very hot and noisy, already second one, May 12, 2011
This review is from: Sanyo SR-4912M Energy Star 4-8/9-Cubic-Foot Counter-High Refrigerator with Platinum Door (Kitchen)
I didn't buy this from Amazon instead I bought this from Fry's. The refrigrator never could keep food or drink chilly. When the compressor is working, the sides get very hard and the back especially compressor is untouchably hot. I exchanged one from Fry's before 30 days, now this new one is acting up again, besides all the above said symptons, this one is generating big humming sound which drive me crazy. Very very bad quality control. Now it's passed 30 days. I really regret buying this one. I won't recommend this one to anyone. Go look at other brandnames.

This is a great fridge. It is spacious, keeps everything at the right temperature, is quiet, and looks very cool in a bar. Recommend it without reservation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect & Reliable, June 27, 2010
This review is from: Sanyo SR-4912M Energy Star 4-8/9-Cubic-Foot Counter-High Refrigerator with Platinum Door (Kitchen)
We have had this refrigerator for about 3 years now and still LOVE it. We have it in our entertainment room filled with waters, sodas and juice.

It keeps everything pretty cold without freezing it. It's quiet and doesn't create much heat. It's even made it through cross country moves. I would not hesitate to buy another of these beauties!

I especially love it's sleek, modern look!
