4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money!
I received the camera case a couple of weeks ago and I was somewhat worried about using it since it seems to not hold real securly. Well I can say that it seems to hold the camera just fine even with me and I am abit rough since I have to play and chase my children all day. It's a good camera so I managed to buy it all over again. As I wait to get it in the mail, I'm missing a lot of deployment ports to take videos from. This case is a very loose fit, and the camera will fall out of it and get all scratched up or worse.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not purchase, February 13, 2008
This review is from: Sanyo VCP-HCX3 Holster Case for the HD1000 (Electronics)
The camera falls out of this case very easily. There is no strap on top to prevent it from coming out. I want to return the camera since it is scratched up after using it one day and falling out of this case.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's backwards!, July 7, 2008

I would not buy this case because it looks like its completely backwards of how I would want it... my preference would be to place it on my right hip where it would be easily accessible by my right hand, which is the only hand you would be using to shoot, correct? Why in the world would I want it to be on my left? I would have to take the camera out and switch hands constantly. The whole point of these small palm cameras is quick accessibility even at times when you are traveling and have only one free hand.

Also it looks quite a lot like a gun holster which I guess could be good or bad depending on what kind of 'look' you are after!

UPDATE: I have since had the camera fall out of holster twice. Thank God it was only onto the soft grass and no damage was done but made me stop and fix this problem. i went to walmart and for 5.00 I bought some strap material and heavy duty velcro and sewed a strap with velcro so the camera will not fall out anymore and the holster still looks very nice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost cost me my camera., August 31, 2008

Can't see why they suggest this holster for this camera. No sooner had i put the camera in the holster for the first time than it slipped right out. Luckily the camera withstood the severe blow. This holster is almost guaranteed to cost you your camera: It simply does not fit the Sanyo camera it's supposed to be made for. Keep away.

Get a standard camera bag with zippers. I did. Now it's really protected. For example a Lowepro Edit 100 Camcorder bag which is what i got and fits perfect, head down.

I got this with my Xacti HD 1000 and it doesn't feel like it was made for this camera. It always feels like it's going to fall out and it did, luckily I was home on my couch messing around with it when it fell. I no longer use it and the little bag that comes with the Xacti works just fine for me.

I installed a UV filter immediately upon purchase of the camcorder, found that with the filter in place the case would not close properly. The problem is easy to solve by stapling a strip of heavy-duty velcro fastener on either side of the case, then cutting the matching velcro strip of appropriate length to stretch between the 2 strips. This is an issue that Sanyo could, and should, have addressed itself. Some field testing would have promptly revealed the design flaw in the case and Sanyo's solution would be more elegant, I'm sure. Or not?

1.0 out of 5 stars Thanks to reviewers, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Sanyo VCP-HCX3 Holster Case for the HD1000 (Electronics)
Thanks for the warnings away from this product.
Actually, the case that came with my VPC-E2 is pretty good. It protects the entire camera and is easy to open. All it lacks is a belt clip, and I think I can find one on one of the old cases I have laying around unused and sew it onto this case.
I really like my new camera though, which was pretty highly rated here.
Update, 3/21/09:
I did find an old (unused) cell phone belt clip, the kind with a "button" that slides into a slot and snap-locks. I took the thing apart and sewed the button onto the back of the case that came with the camera and it works great.

Very poor product. The Xacti camera is a very well thought out product. This isn't.

What's wrong:
1) The holster doesn't protect the lense of the camera at all
2) The camera isn't securely held and can easily pop out. This problem can be fixed by sewing on some velcro, but at this overinflated price you shouldn't have to do that yourself.
3) The belt clip is "u" shaped not "o" shaped and can can "clip off" your belt just as easily as it can "clip onto" your belt...
4) The holster has no padding whatsover and will not protect against any bumps.
